I like the Navy but buckskin with a gold cap looks great too. The LE blue is interesting in person but I don't think I could carry one laugh.gif

Some of the best combinations are a Black pen with a Gold or Lustraloy cap.

Thereafter Cedar Blue with a Sterling Silver cap or an original Empire Heirloom cap, looks good on black too. Not the SE edition, must be original.

The English Rolled Silver cap on a Teal Blue body looks good to as does a Grey with a lustraloy cap.

The browns all look good with a gold cap and there are loads of differences.

For preference I would take a Blue Diamond cap over a later one.

But if I had to choose one, it would be a black pen with an unmarked lustraloy cap, just like my original "51" of 33 years biggrin.gif

I'll be in the minority, but I love that navy green,
because it reminds me of celadon.

Probably my ultimum desideratum in a "51" is a DJ Vacumatic filler in Blue Cedar with a lined sterling cap with perfect plating. Absent that pen, I'm deeply enamored of my DJ Blue Cedar with a Lustraloy cap (which pen I refer to as the "51" because it's the pen that I always have with me):

I also like Cordovan Brown with a GF cap, like this one:

Moving into aerometrics, I gotta say I love the Flighter:

(I'd like it even better if it weren't so doggone easy to put wear marks into the barrel with the cap!) After that, I really don't think you can beat Plum with a GF cap:

I don't actually hate any of the colors, although I really don't have any great fondness for Mustard (which I believe Parker called Yellowstone). For a long time, I thought I couldn't live without a Nassau Green "51", but that lastged only until the moment I laid eyes on a MIB DJ Blue Cedar with lined sterling cap... biggrin.gif

He he...sorry for all the confusion with this post. My initial intent was to ask what kind of ink colors do you think looks good on a Parker 51? Because the same ink can look so different on many pens...
Richard
Oh, well, gee, that's easy. Three words:

Waterman Blue-Black

IMHO, that's the color that looks best in any pen -- and especially a "51" because it tends to suggest "vintage."

sick.gif I hate blue-black colors I guess. Has to be another color that looks great on the pen!

So far, I have Aurora Blue on it & I think the Aurora Blue is really showing its prettyness on the Parker 51.

I usually LOVE tarzanite, but it looked too dark on the Parker. It looked best on the Pelikan
