I've seen some information on the new musical themed limited edition from Montegrappa.

Its called La Traviata, and pays homage to the classic Italian opera.

I think there will be a silver FP retailing at around £1500 and 2 gold models at over £10000.

Superb packaging finishes off this exceptional piece from Montegrappa

Has anyone seen this pen in the flesh yet?

Not to trespass on your taste in any way, but I don't like this pen in the least. It's a chunky piece of jewelry, and for that you pay a premium. I don't think it looks especially nifty to reproduce portraits on a pen barrel. The presence of this pen provides further proof of Montegrappa's slow demise after having been swallowed by MB (and after having been foisted upon MB's philosophy).
I love opera too, but I would probably never buy this pen. On the other hand, I can only assume that the craftsmanship is outstanding. I had the chance to see the factory and I was very impressed by the passion with which they make their pens.

I love the look of the Stradivarius pen, and before clicking on the above link, I expected a similar design. What a big surprise. The Stradivarius is is simple and elegant. This one is nice in a different way.

I can't get too excited about this one. Montegrappa can do classy and understated and Montegrappa can do gaudy and over-the-top. I think this one falls into the latter camp...

Ditto to that, I was really hoping for something more like the Stradivari. But urgh, I can't bring myself to like La Traviata. It's more along the lines of the older Amerigo Vespucci (which I didn't like either).

I heard that Montegrappa is continuing its Genio Creativo series of limited editions with a new one coming out later this year. I think it was going to be a tribute to Paulo Coelho. If it is true, then that's got me excited already.

Genio Creativo is going to continue... and as Coelho is the brand ambassador for Montegrappa, I think it would make sense to tie in a new product with him.

My only concern may be that as Montblanc already have a Writers Series, would Montegrappa want to tread on their toes with a Writers Special Edition?

On the La Traviata, it is pretty over the top...but maybe its the Italian way! hmm1.gif

Breaking news...

There will be a Paulo Coelho Montegrappa pen, hitting the stores in the next few months. Once I have further information or a photo, I will try to get it posted!

And with a little bit of luck it should be in keeping with the Genio Creativo launched last year, the very popular Stradivarius!
