Do they take the same size ink cartridges?
As far as I know Platinum pens take standard size ink cartridges.

Dillo
Hi,

No, as Platignum is British and Platinum is Japanese.

Platignum is now owned by Universal and is relatively dormant as of now.

Hi sabzdoodle,

Standard and international (short) cartridges are the same thing. The "standard" long cartridges are Waterman's.

As far as I can remember, Osmiroid used Parker cartridges last time I tried cartrdiges with those, but someone else will have to help out with the Platignum.

Anyway, I guess I didn't really answer the question biggrin.gif, but I do hope you'll forgive me biggrin.gif.

Warm regards, Wim

i have waterman cartridges. yes too long but schaeaffer (however it's spelled) right length but too fat to pop into the opposite end of the nibby thingy. parker will fit like a waterman. i had a platignum pen about 10 years ago in a calligraph set but i have no more cartridges to compare it to & besides i was 10 years old & quite destructive.....

so to put this into not confusing words. i need a cartridge that is as long as a scheaffer but narrow like a waterman (a lot cheaper than cross). so what size type etc. cartridge is that?

The Platignum calligraphy pens take the short and long standard (Pelikan) cartridges, so I suspect the regular fountain pens might as well. (I still have a bunch of Platignum calligraphy pens, because I loved the extra-fine italic nibs. They stopped being available here in the 1990s, if memory serves.)

i bought a box of 12 of the school pens on ebay. i'm not mad that i can't easily find cartridges. it's actually a good learning experience. i didn't realize that the fountain pen is a really popular writhing instrument. (well at least in the UK!!)

thank you all for the help.
