Hello Watermaniacs -
I got a sweet deal on a Waterman 12 ED slip-cap on eBay, which just arrived today. Given that the Ideal #2 nib is the most flexible nib I've got, and the BHR is in nice condition, I won't compain about this pen. However, I'm wondering if the feed is all there? The other Waterman 12 ED I have has a sort of (ebonite?) grooved rod sticking up at the place where this one has a hollow channel. You can actually see quite a bit of light through it (although it's hard to capture that in a photo). Based on these photos, can anyone comment on the status of this feed? Thanks in advance.

Looks exactly like the section of the 12 I've got, which in terms of the feed looks very like the Dauntless of several decades later production I've also got. I'm sort of curious to see what the other one looks like, as it seems to have an unexpected bonus in the feed.

Ernst, you changed your avatar I see. I wonder if you're from Saskatchewan, where I was born and raised. Anyway, I got out the other Waterman, which is a 12 POC obtained from csikora and having imprint reading: "Patented Oct. 9, 1906 Waterman's Ideal Fountain- pen Canada Feb 9, 1909". Although the feed is comparatively elaborate, it is not foolproof (blob-dropping). How I love these old Watermans though, despite the occasional blopping! Incidentally, I cleaned up the 12 pictured above, and inked it with Noodler's Au Coeur des Ténèbres, and so far it seems fine -- thanks for the encouragement! Really great ink so far, I must say -- may make up for my many grievances concerning Polar Black...

Ah, the German Expressionist feed of 1922! I am at once repelled and fascinated!

That is a very odd item, and absolutely new in my experience. Thanks for the picture, one-time co-provincial!
