Hi Everyone,

I am currently a doctoral student in Los Angeles area studying engineering. I have always been a true fan of fountain pens since I received my first fountain pen as a gift from my father (Sheaffer Targa). The list has grown slowly throughout the years. I came across FPN the other day while searching to add another to my collection, so I decided to hop on and join with all the fountain pen fans out there.

Welcome to FPN. You'll find that there are a few engineers/technical folks on the site that are also fountain pen collectors. Enjoy.

Welcome to FPN daiiwan!

Where abouts in LA? Those Targa's are nice! What were you looking to add?

Greetings daiiwan,
I'm just outside of Los Angeles in Chino which is approximately 30 minutes from downtown (of course depending on traffic).
I also signed up here recently, to meet other fountain pen enthusiasts -- it's nice to know there are so many of us here in California.

Keep in touch or send me an email anytime! richard at merrittpens.com

Welcome to the City of Angels. Welcome to FPN! I'm a 3rd generation Angelino, I love this city. Currently live in Santa Clarita, just north of the San Fernando Valley.
Enjoy your stay in this cosmopolitan city.

Welcome to FPN! I'm from Ontario originally and lived in Pasadena for a while. Glad to have a fellow FP enthusiast on board with us! biggrin.gif

Thanks everyone for a warm welcome. I am currently studying at UCLA (westwood area). I was looking for pen that's ~$100 range with a classic black body, yet matching my moderate graduate student status so that I feel comfortable using it everyday on campus. At the end, I chose the Pelikan M215. I got to say this is a great pen!

You know this is a great way to have your children take a liking to fountain pens. I just wish that more people would give a fountain pen to their children, and others as a birthday or holiday gift. eureka.gif This might start a good trend.

Hello!!!

I'm brand new here, too. We have some parallels -I'm a biomedical engineer at Cal Poly, SLO. And... "I'm addicted to fountain pens"!

These folks here on the FPN are stellar, and will fix you up straight with any help/advise you need. Unless, of course, you start a thread titled "XXXXXX vs Pelikan". Then there will be a flurry (flock?) of rapid-fire high and low-level analysis regarding any of a thousand particular details down to the smallest design aspect.

Cheers! thumbup.gif
