Full Version: Toledo or Majesty?

I'm thinking about buying either a Toledo or a Majesty - not sure which. I did buy a Majesty a while back but I had to return it because of a twisted nib. crybaby.gif Now I'm not sure - should I go for a Toledo M700 or a Majesty? The prices are similar.

Any opinions or advice? Thanks in advance.

The Toledo. It is based on the same design as classical Pelikans from the 1930's and the engraved artwork is a real beauty. It looks sharper and more classical than an all metal pen. Also, with its combination of silver and resin, it ias asured to please everyone from "metal pen addicts" to those that prefer resin pens.

I'm leaning towards the Toledo. But I don't like the new red and silver model; I prefer the older black and vermeil type.

You're either a 'silver person' or you're not. I'm a silver lover who normally prefers more sedately colored pens. I also prefer mellow colors on my cars--but if I had a Ferrari, you bet your ass it'd be bright red!

The Toledo is that kind of pen--it's worthy of it's attention grabbing color. My vote: go for the Toledo!

The Toledo is just a M800 with a silver overlay and a premium price, so let's not get carried away! rolleyes.gif I find red totally unsuited as a pen colour, unless you actually use red ink, which you probably won't unless you are a teacher of some kind. I am still leaning to the black/vermeil.

So is the Toledo no longer available in the classic colors? If it's only available in red, and you're not crazy about red, then it seems like an easy decision. Me, I'd go for the Toledo anyway. Whatever color, the design is classic and I don't like the idea of having to remove the sleeve on the Majesty (even if I liked all metal pens to begin with, and I don't) just to fill the pen.

How about an older Toledo? Is the price of the red that much different from an older (not necessarily *much* older) version?

The black and silver M910 is no longer available, but the black and vermeil M900 is still being made. The red M910 was introduced last year - shame they didn't go for light blue, as that colour would have been ideal. Red goes better with gold, IMHO.

I agree. Red is a warm color and gold is warm. To me silver is cold and clashes with the warmth of red.

But - I bought a red and rhodium VP and love it. Go figure. smile.gif
