I was curious if Mary or anyone else heard back from Conway Stewart about the lack of a hallmark on their silver-trimmed pens? I am curious to know if my pen is really trimmed in sterling silver or if it is plated.
Thanks so much,
Robert

Hi Robert,

Yep, I'm back, trying to catch up with work, etc.

Your pen has sterling silver cap bands, however it is not hallmarked. Conway Stewart has confirmed that they will now hallmark all future sterling silver cap bands.

Kind regards,

My Drake Vermeil is not hallmarked - I am very disappointed by this. There is no evidence that the pen is infact made of silver, which is a shame.

By the way, how is the Evolution going? Any more info?

Hi George,

Thanks for your message. I have a vermeil Drake in my office and it is hallmarked right at the end of the barrel. opposite the pen number. I do not wish to sound disrespectful but can you please check to see if the hallmark is in the same place on your pen?

During my time in the UK I noticed that CS is making the parts for the Evolution pen, so it is only a matter of time before they start shipping orders.

Kind regards,

Thanks Mary. No, you are not disrespectful at all!! smile.gif

I will check when I get home - you may be correct. But even so, the hallmark is not very visible, and it would have been nice for it to have been more obvious. Likewise, a hallmark on the cap would also have been a good idea. I'm not picking holes here, just pointing something out.

As for the Evolution, please keep us updated. I ordered one a month ago thorugh a US supplier, who is due to recieve it from Dick Egolf, but Dick hasn't had received any yet.
