...ultimate Waterman ''grail'' pen?

I am aware that this is a personal question, but I ask it anyway... rolleyes.gif

The Edson Diamond Black "had me at hello." I probably wouldn't have bought one otherwise. It's my favorite of the Watermans. Some folks like the pretty colored ones, but I'm partial to the black and platinum.

Full sterling LeMan 100. Ooooooh, the Etoile! thumbup.gif
Ernst Bitterman
In moderns, I'd quite like the blue Edson. Otherwise a well-kept 52 with a nice floppy point would suit quite well (my 52 1/2V is too small, too brown and only just above semi-flex, alas).
artaddict
It would be a vintage Waterman with a wet noodle! thumbup.gif
rlukcs
A first year (lucite) Hundred Year Pen.
Or, if they made a piston filler version of the l'Etalon.
Ondina
Of todays pens, Edson. Some decades back, Le Man 100/200. Old days, a 52. Are we talking Waterman? Because if not, Dragon's Jules swept my feet off the ground.

Some real interesting pens Gentlemen.. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

I have a lot to learn about these writing instruments
adyf
I already own my Waterman grail pens, an Edson sterling silver and an Edson diamond black. smile.gif
Serpentum
I usualy do not care for Watermans. BUT the Serenite d'Art is my top of the list of all time and the most beautiful and my most desired pens ever.
mturk
The solid 18k le Man 100. I think very few were made, but I have seen one on Ebay that went for about $18,000. Other than that, I would settle for the first model sterling 100 or the 1939 version of the Hundred Year pen. Ah, to dream...
Shangas
I'm hankering after a Waterman #52 as my next 'major purchase' fountain pen. I've read so much about it...now I want one. You people are evil! If I ever buy one, you are all in trouble. I am taking you all to court under charges of duress and provocation!!
cellulophile
I have to agree with those who've mentioned the Edson Diamond Black. I find the others colors a little gaudy (because of the gold, mainly), but this one is very nice. Best,
David
mroghmans
They're actually reasonably affordable but I'd love to have an Opera.
Robert Hughes
Of course, a #7 RHR with Pink nib. But they're wa-a-ay outta my price range.
Deirdre
I have a few Waterman pens I'd like (and I'm not in the market at present):

- a rose ripple 52V to go with my blue ripple. I'd prefer flex or semi-flex
- a violet carene
- a blue or red edson

I'd like to see, but I'd have to examine closely to know if I wanted one:
- a Man 100 sterling
- a serenite in blue or somesuck

I'm not really a metal pen fan (though, paradoxically, I love the look of lacquer), and unfortunately Waterman tends to have lots of metal.
ANM
I am fortunate enough to already have a 100 year pen and a mottled hard rubber pen but I don't have and will probably never be able to afford a Patrician in any color but turquoise or agate would be wonderful.

Yeah, turquoise. ::sigh::

Well, until then, I have my Visconti Augusta (in a similar celluloid).

Sort of a problem. The Grail seems to suggest the hunt for the unobtainable, something pursued and highly sought... but not caught? I obtained my Waterman Grail, so is it still a grail?

It is the RHR-Silver pen on the left, dwarfing the large oversized Waterman Patrician (in the middle, which also is mine). The black pen on right, of same ilk as my red pen on left is not mine.

Ray-Vigo
Waterman Red Ripple #7 with a "Yellow" round ball "lefties'" nib.

Best of both worlds: the vintage red ripple, but with a round ball nib forgiving on left handers. I'm one of the few people who would want a rigid or at least more rigid type of nib in a Waterman. Most people want flex, but I don't.
Pen Nut
Without any hesitation EDSON.

Got three and would put them against any other high grade pen
