Today I went to a big department store that is selling Pelikan pens for very good prices every now and then.
I went out with a nice Pelian 605 blue with silver trim.

I tested the pen with my own crappy paper against the Pelikan 400 I was carrying, liked the nib and wanted to buy the pen. The salesperson told me, that I would get another, unused pen. I asked her to test the other nib too. She gave me the pen and I did not like the other nib at all. So I asked her to switch the nibs. She could not believe that I asked for a nib various people had used for testing but switched it anyway.

My other Pelikans are 400s so I have to get used to the 605. But I simply could not walk away without the 605 offered for 99 Euros!

I got the rollerball version of this pen for my 16th birthday. It came with a small blue Pelican than you could rest the pen on. I always wish I had asked for the FP, but I knew nothing about FP's at the time. Congratulations on your good deal!

+1 to that... love my m605... and had heard rumor or a m805 and a m405... off to google I go.

The 805 is too big for my hands, but the 405

My 605 is my favorite pen. It's 1 of 2 pens that hasn't been sold or traded off since I began collecting... and this includes MontBlancs, Pel M800, Omas Paragon, etc. I've actually put a Binderized M215 0.6mm stub in it and love it! I still have the gold nib that came with it of course, but prefer the binder stub.
