Hello everyone! biggrin.gif

My name is Jason i am 27 and i live in Harford County Maryland.

i have recently become overwhelmed with the idea of keeping a journal. i am at a point where i would like to chronicle the events in my life as well as have a daily routine in which to unwind, reflect, and relax. My wife finds my "diary" idea as she calls it comical but i am not deterred by her badgering tongue.gif

the journal part is easy but now as i am sure many of you have done i must find a writing instrument worthy of such a task. from my reading here it appears that doings so will be quite the adventure. i am looking forward to it. wink.gif

it really seems like a great community here and i am honored to be a part of it.

all the best, biggrin.gif

Welcome! I've been keeping a handwritten journal for about seventeen years (I kept one on the computer and on the typewriter for four years before that), and have found it incredibly useful as a meditative and reflective device in my life.

One thing you will discover is that we are full of opinions and advice here. First, though, have you used fountain pens before? What are you looking for in a pen? What are you looking for in a journal?
Rackness
thank you for the welcome Velma. biggrin.gif

my apologies i did not describe my ideal pen.

i am new to the world of fountain pens so i am not quite sure what i am looking for unsure.gif . i do know that i am not a fan of yellow gold on pens. gold on the nib is ok but the only FP's that i like with gold on the body of the pen have been to say the least, out of my league <_< .

i really need to try out a few different pens to get a feel for what suits me.

i will be getting a moleskine journal to start and from there who knows blink.gif i have been drooling over some of the leather re-fillable journals posted in the forums.

oh an i will be getting a VP for sure but for my journal i would like a standard FP.

Welcome aboard, Jason smile.gif We're getting a nice crew of Marylanders here. I'm in southern Maryland... St. Mary's County.

I keep a journal for the reasons you've mentioned, and I think it's a great help to me.

Hi Jason and welcome to FPN! biggrin.gif

You can't go wrong with a VP and as for conventional FPs with caps, there are a ton out there. It's just a matter of choosing one that fits your hand and writing style (and sense of aesthetics). First of all, I would determine whether you want to get a modern pen or a vintage one. There are pluses and minuses for both. Try some modern ones at a pen store (if there is one nearby); that's the best test smile.gif

Hello Jason and welcome to the Fountain Pen Nuthouse biggrin.gif I am sure that you will love it here and gain a lot of knowledge about pens, and maybe even attend a few pen shows. Likewise, we have a section with great ink reviews on this Web site and I am sure you will find some new inks that you will fall in love with.

Welcome aboard and...

Happy Holidays!! biggrin.gif
Rackness
thank you all for the warm welcomes. biggrin.gif

i have been reading as much as i can (well, as much as my eyes can stand! laugh.gif )
and all the information here is wonderful.

i have decided on my fist FP. from the reviews i have read the raw ebonite densho is a must have, so i got myself on a waiting list for one.

i am excited just knowing i will soon have such a fine instrument.

i would most certainly like to attend a pen show however i just may have to leave the wallet at home so my wife does not kill me! ohmy.gif

thank you again, i look forward to participating in these forums!

Jason,

Welcome to FPN! Starting out with a Danitrio Raw Ebonite? Man, you're getting off to a great start (and ruining yourself for later pens - setting you sights that high right out of the starting gate laugh.gif ). Welcome and be sure to let us know how you like your Dani when it arrives.
