Is the old (monotone 14k) M400 nib the same as the M250 nib?

They look very similar but if an not mistaken the old 400 nib was gold and the M200 nib is only gold plated

Yes, it is the same unit -- nib, feed, and collar.

You can still buy the M250 nib in monotone, so as they are essentially the same nib, if you want the 'vintage ' look on an M400 this is the nib to order.

The Writing Desk have them on their website at the moment, along with a chart of which nibs will fit which pens.
