I thought I asked this before, but I am unable to find it. So...

I already have a photo of a pen uploaded to FPN through a prior post. I wanted to use the image in another post, but FPN will not allow me to use the link to that photo. Do I just keep re-uploading the same image file?

Fred,

I fought with this for a while myself. I eventually found the post I had the picture in, highlighted the link for the picture and then copied it into the "insert image" box in the reply editor.

A related question: If I delete an attachment in my attachment manager, does that also delete the image in any posts that contained the image? In other words, I don't want to delete them if it will make old posts meaningless that rely on pictures.

Yes that it does.

@Fred:
as Todd mentioned, you can copy the link to another message. That should do the trick.

@Todd:
Yes, as HardyB indicates. Deleting the upload with the upload manager will delete the actual picture or uploaded file, so it will invalidate the original message and any messages where you copied the link to. So, please, do not delete any links or files from the original message.

Testing: If it works, a green Optima will appear.

Yes! To quote Dr. Frankenstein, "It's alive!"

Before, I had copied the image file's link from the list of recently uploaded attachments that appears on the My Controls page. My recollection is that the forum software responded that dynamic URLs would not work, whatever that means.

Exactly what do I copy into the Insert Image box? the name of the image from my attachment list (which isn't working) or a link to the original post (which is not what I want to display) ?

I'm trying to do this, but must not be doing it correctly.

I also just copied the link from the opened picture into the Insert Image box, but got the dynamic url message.

I think it's working for me now - I had to paste the link directly into the edit box, not the "insert image" box. Does that sound right?
