Does the CA101 take standard cartridges?

Thanks!

No, it doesn't. The carts were discontinued years ago.

The only solution is using Sheaffer Skrip carts (the old clear ones, not the new color-coded ones). They are the right size to fit into the Estie barrel. Puncture the cart in your Sheaffer pen, pull it off and then fit it on to the wider CA101 nipple. It should stay put for the most part.

There are a few threads about this very subject. I started this one a while back.

Once in a while you find them on e-bay. I've been refilling the same few for years and haven't had a problem. There are some Sheaffer cartridge fillers that work but I've not had to use them.

You might try getting some from someone here or looking at a pen club or pen show. If you want me to ask the collectors I know send me a PM and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the input. Disappointing. I thought the advantage of owning one would be a cartridge filler (which I use mostly for traveling) and the ability to switch nibs. Syringing a cartridge to me is little different than a lever filler. Guess I'll stick with the Js and Dollars (which I'm a huge fan of). Unless there's anything I should know about the aerometric or cartridge pens and am missing.

Not sure if it helps but I keep all old carts from Esterbrook pens (CA101 in particular) that I buy from where ever for future possible use. At least I know they will fit the pen.

The A101s are nice. They don't hold a lot of ink but they fill easy and are simple to resac if needed. They look the same as the CA101 pens. If your A101 is navy blue or white you have something special, those two colors are hard to find and worth fixing up.
