Is this pen a good deal at $20 including shipping..... NOS in box with M nib and turquoise trim...
I have heard a lot of nice things about these pens, and it would be my first Pelikan...

Yes, a solid pen at a good price.
Lynn Brant's article on these pens convinced me to try one.

It's hard to beat @ $20...

Thanks, I just jumped on the last 2 available at that price...
I can now state that I will soon be a Pelikan owner... albeit and low priced Pelikan owner...
But as I stated at the beginning...

What a great article. Thank you!

Would you mind sharing where you bought them?
They may make interesting stocking stuffers...

I agree with Bill. I own a few of these. While they're great knock-around pens, I find myself reaching for one more often than I ever would have thought. Great nibs and reliability for cheap. Enjoy!

They were on the Green Board... only 5 available... I emailed for 2 of them...

They are *great* little pens. My only complaint is every one I've had the cap got loose over time. They are suitable for custom nib grinds too, although of course the nibs aren't interchangeable with other Pelikan FP's.

I hate to sound stupid, but I don't know what the Green Board is?

Are there other sites that anyone knows of that sell them?

Pentrace "green board" is the marketplace

"yellow board" is the non-commercial side

They're on eBay, but the market price looks to be around $35 ohmy.gif

eBay search link (?)

Hope this helps...

I bought 4 by accident at 15.00 each. I was on Ebay and this merchant was selling them with the "Buy Now" option. I thought the sale didnt go through, so I clicked the "Buy" button 4 times and before I knew it, I bought 4 Pelikan "Go" pens. So I kept one, and gave one to my Dad, one to a friend and one to my wife. I filled the pen up and used it and I couldnt believe how smooth the pen wrote. Eventhough the nib was plated, it wrote better than some of my pens with gold nibs. The piston filler holds a ton of ink. My wife had a problem with hers. The piston knob became very hard to turn and just about froze up. The nib is not a unit like the typical pelikan screw nib units. This one is friction fitted but with a bit of effort, the nib and feed were freed up. I was able to grease up the piston chamber and free of the knob so it would loosen up a bit. Now the pen works completely flawlessly. The piston knob turns freely and it writes like a charm. You cannot go wrong with the M75 GO. Too bad Pelikan stopped making them sometime ago.

The "GO" is a great pen!
I got the turqouise and black model from a pen friend in Bellingham and the pink and black model from a certain very friendly "$20 Pelikan GO salesman" laugh.gif

I agree with Maja (and everyone else) about the GO. I bought two from a "very friendly $20 GO salesman". There was an issue with the post office and shipping the first, and the salesman did more than necessary to make things right. The first pen arrived the day the replacement shipped, I inked it up and decided to buy the the replacement as well.

A great writing pen for a little money. While the majority of my pens are inexpensive (well all my pens are inexpensive), this writes as nicely, if not better than anything else I have (2 Esties, Lamy Al-Star, Rotring Core, Wality 52 piston filler)

I would highly recommend the GO.

I've had a Pelikan GO, which I keep next to my bed, for months now. I can't say it's my favorite writer, but it's right up there. The most impressive thing is it writes immediately every time I pick it up, even if I haven't used it for a week or 2. It's smooth, no skipping, etc.

I also have a Pelikan Future, which is a similar pen. It's a cartridge/converter though, and just not quite as nice as the GO. But still a good pen.

$20 for a new GO is the best price I've seen in awhile, not that I've been looking.

Hi,

I can get you a nib that fits the GO! from a Pelikano. I actually swapped nibs around a GO!, Level, and Pelikano.

Well, I'd better be careful--GO! Get out of my room!!!! tongue.gif

The GO! was my first fountain pen at $10, and therefore it holds a special place in my book. As I remember it, the pen outperformed many pricier pens that came along, and lasted five months before the section broke off the barrel; that was a brutal way for it to enter retirement.

The gold plated nib is top quality, and you cannot find a better piston filler for $20. However, for $45 you can have a Pelikan M200 (it's loved -understatement-, rather worshipped on FPN), for $115 a Pelikan M400, for $250 a Pelikan M1000 etc. At each doubling, you get a substantially better pen. Yeah, it's on purpose. It's brutal. You'll find yourself with a M1000 in no time. smile.gif

Sweet dreams,

Not to jump on any wagons occupied by bands, but I love the GO! too. Before I could ever think about affording a Pelikan M-series, I could have a nifty piston filler to own. And the writing experience is sublimely trouble-free. Only my Parker 51 puts ink on paper more reliably, and then with a hooded nib. My only complaint (echoed above) is that the caps can come loose. As someone who carries my pens in my pants pocket, let me say that that large whole ink chamber can empty by capillary action into a pair of corduroys that you left on the bedroom floor for the night. Had a smaller but similar problem with a Lamy Vista recently and I'm thinking of swearing off slip cap pens without a strong positive click (this might even include the Parker 45 <GASP>).

Hi,

The nice thing is that the GO! is an M series too. It is an M75. smile.gif

I'll add to the chorus as well. I bought a model from a seller in the Netherlands on Ebay, it's labeled GO P70 and is a cartridge/converter filler. Otherwise it appears identical to my M75. I was disappointed that the blind cap broke off after a bit of use--don't think it had been dropped or anything. Anyway the little brochure that came with it states:"The Pelikan GO! is a high quality fountain pen for young people which has many advantages in both design and function". Well this user ain't so young but I love it!

I took up poohcorners offer from the green board for a Pelikan Go! and bottle of ink (I got Noodler's purple). WOW! I love it! What a nifty pen. And the purple is gorgeous. Oooo colors. What a nice smooth pen (a bit wet but I LIKE that). It's just really tickled me. Very nice working with Jim Sanders. Couldn't believe how fast it got here and I'd say the pen plus ink was a good deal.
Yuri
I bought Pelikan GO from Jim Sanders too. Before that I read so much great responses about that pen, but was hesitant to buy one because they were available for purchases only with medium nibs. I practically do not have usage for mediums. Reading about GOs here at FPN and seeing Jims offer could not resist any more, besides I was in a itch for Noodler's Walnut... Pen arrived super promptly (sent on Saturday and I got it on Monday!). Unpacked the pen loaded with Noodler's Sequoia and got amazed it was writing true fine line though it is supposed to be medium. Exactly what I was dreaming about! I contacted Jim and he said that all of GOs are true mediums and mine is a fluke.

Before I could not believe how good it can be, but after the purchase I just love this GO not less than my M200, EX. Writes moderately wet, convenient in my hand whether posted or not, keeps a lot of inks. It does not look as a respectable one, but that is a beauty of it to use it everywhere and if it gets scratched or something it does not look awfully, it looks like everyday writing instrument not peace of jewelry or some symbol.

I would like the ditto the last couple of postings. I purchased a Pelikan GO from Jim Sanders - what a delightful man. It turns out that we both teach 8th graders. Small world.

I haven't had much time to play with this pen, as I just received it today. However, a quick test drive left me very impressed. It writes quite smoothly and fits in the hand very well. I will be using it to score a pile of essays over the weekend. I'll certainly have a better feel for this pen on Monday morning.

My only initial concern is that the pen feels rather light. Would moving up to an M200 give me a pen that has more heft?
