I apologize if this subject is covered elsewhere.
Can someone give an explanation of the icon meanings on a CS 100 gold band? I understand A few of them. Obviously the first, "CS" is Conway Stewart. The 750 inside the scales and in the box on the second and third is the gold content. I cannot make out the fourth item. The fifth appears to be a crown, which I can assume has reference to Britain. And the sixth, a 'g' in a box -- means gold?
Thanks!
Well, the crown indicates GOLD - and, though I need a stronger magnifying glass, I'd almost say that the assaying office mark looks like Sheffield. But CS, if memory serves, is in Plymouth, which seems a bit dodgy to go all the way to Sheffield to get your pieces hallmarked and back again... The last G should be the date (year) letter.
London hallmark reference (though they play a bit close to the vest)...
