Full Version: Help me ID an old Waterman from an antique shop

I picked up a Waterman for $12 amongst some clutter at an antique shop. I already mailed it for a rehab before I thought to take a photo first, but please see if my description helps.

I'd estimate it is from the late 30s to early 50s. The nib is small, gold and had "Waterman" on it. I dipped it and it was okay, but not stellar. The barrel and cap were flat at the ends and made of blue and pearl strips formed into sort of a deep-V herringbone pattern. It has a silver-colored clip with no lettering, but with curved ridges. The black jewel on top is recessed with circular ridges, while the black jewel on the bottom is flat.

Thanks.

Yeah, credit is due! Splicing all your images together is genius enough. Thanks for helping me out, David.

And Steve, based on that eBay sale, I guess I did okay, then? Maybe pens will work out for me after all!

There should be a metal "globe" at the bottom of the pen, with a Waterman logo on it. Color should match the trim. Note that the globe only appeared on the standard Ink-Vue, not the Ink-Vue Deluxe.

The Ink-Vue is interesting, as it is Waterman's answer to the Vacumatic, in an odd sort of way. It is actually a bulb filler, however, instead of pressing the bulb manually, there's a lever at the top of the pen that does it for you. The "sac" on the Ink-Vue fills the same role as the diaphragm on a Vacumatic. Both push air out of the pen through the breathing tube, so that ink will be drawn up through the channel in the feed.

What is in place of the metal globe on the DeLuxe? And what distinguishes the standard from the DeLuxe?
