I was able to get one of these babies. It'll be in sometime next week. I hear the color of this pen is SO intense. I'm sure the ink should be also. My first impression would be Noodler's Habanero. What do you think?
Here's a borrowed picture of one. I'm assuming mine will be identical.

Private Reserve Tangerine Dream -- if you can find it.
There's a Diamine color that's similar, but offhand I can't remember the name.
It's as orange as your pen, though.

Yep, the colour of this pen is an intense, eye-searing orange. I saw the real thing at the NY/NJ Pen Show, and it's quite lovely -- but not for the faint-hearted. I'd suggest Noodler's Antietam or Caran d'Ache Saffron! Enjoy your new pen...

Psst, Deirdre... Methinks that one is called Diamine
Orange.

If you want matching ink you might try Herbin's Orange Indien. It, like the other orange inks listed, is a very nice shade.
If you want to go Halloween try Aurora black.
If you want a true contrast try PR's Plum
The list goes on and on..
Nice pen by the way.

Diamine Orange is a good bright orange colour, it should match the pen very well.

Thanks for the suggestions folks. I have ordered the following samples from Pear Tree Pens. I want to make sure and get the right shade. I'm so "ate up" with this, aren't I?
Diamine Orange
Noodler's Habanero
J. Herbin Orange Indie (sp?)
Caran D'Ache Saffron
Surely, one of these will be just right. Course, I already have Diamine Orange Crush, and Noodler's Apache Sunset, but I wouldn't call either one a true orange.

ACK!
One of these just came to me in the mail yesterday! It is BRILLIANT!
I love it! But I love the man who gave it to me more.
I stuck a blue cartridge in it, cos... who can wait to try the new pen?! I'm thinking of getting a bottle of Private Reserve Orange Burst. No, probably the Noodler's Old Manhattan Black... I just love that ink. (My hands are stained with it.) Or... I don't know. Now I don't know....
But... how exciting!

Awww, I love your idea of using Orange Crush in it, though it's not as bright orange as Tangerine Dream. The PR dealer in Palo Alto carries it. (Don't ask me who, I just woke up.)

Yes, metaphorically interesting.

I'm a Gator, so blue ink would be my choice (PR DC Supershow blue). Given your location and avatar I'm guessing that's not an option

Habanero is a wonderful colour, but too subtle for this pen, which will make the ink look a bit drab (at least while you're writing). But why not go for a complementary or contrasting colour instead? Noodler's Couleur Royale, for instance.

Another vote for Diamine Orange, a very well behaved, bright, true orange with an excellent price/performance ratio. If you're after some contrast, a nice dark brown would be great such as Visconti Brown, Waterman Havana, or maybe even a deep, rich purple such as Waterman Purple or Diamine Imperial Purple (which gets you my alma mater's colors, orange and purple

).

J Herbin Orange Indien or Noodler's Apache Sunset
The Herbin ink is very well behaved, but won't give you the shading of the teeth grittingly dry Noodler's.

Tony!
Nice purchase! I didn't know there were any of these left out there.
I have this pen, and it is the one pen always in my rotation at work. It is beautiful, and I get many wonderful compliments on it! I started out putting Noodlers Apache Sunset in it, and I was happy with it. But then I tried the Noodlers Habanero, and it was like, Wow, what a perfect match! This is a bold showy pen, and Habanero is a bold, showy ink! I love it because it is definitely orange, but it also has some nice color shifts towards the red side of the spectrum, and it is a dense, bold ink that is not timid or watered-down by any means. No one ever mistakes the notations I make, and it copies well. I have no flow problems at all using the standard medium VP nib that comes with this pen, and it starts first time, every time.
Reading the comments you received above, I have to admit that some day, just for the fun of it, I may have to try plum or violet in this pen. Maybe even something foofy, like the Tulipe Noire. Hmmmm . . .
Anyway, enjoy the pen! It is one pen that has caused me no regrets!
Scott.

Hey, I recognize that pen (and box and desk and Rhodia.)
You have received many good suggestions in this thread. I'll add that the ink that is in that very pen at this very moment is Habanero. I also rotate in Diamine Orange and Noodler's Summer Tanager. If you are looking for a close match to the color of the pen itself, Diamine Orange is the best I've found.

Pilot sells an orange ink, to match the Petit pen that they sell. It is a fierce tangerine orange, I'd almost say it was electric, with highlighter-type qualities (think safety vest in hunting season) It would be a drastic departure from Habanero, but still in the orange color family.
It is available in the tiny carts, which come in packs of 3 for the Petit, and you can pick those up at www.jetpens.com . Hey, its got to work well, its Pilot ink in a Pilot pen! Although, it is also in a short cartridge, so you'd probably have to transfer the ink out of the tiny carts into a larger one... got a syringe with a needle?

Conway Stewart Orange.
I never match pen/ink, so my ink would be Visconti Turquoise. BUT, maybe you are normal.

If you want a really intense orange and can handle the brightness, go for Noodler's Dragon's Napalm. It may not be for everyday journaling or letter writing, but if you want your words to attract attention - that's the ink to use!

Thanks, Elaine. I never met an orange ink I didn't like. Perfect for blue or green pens!
