Full Version: Nibs for use of carbon forms

I see that the Manifold Medium and Fine are listed as for use with carbon copies. Has anyone ever used one for this? Does it work satisfactorily? How about on the newer carbonless forms? If they work, I can make the move completely away from the ballpoint. My hand would thank me!

Lots of branded pen makers made nibs for carbon copies. Salesmen, for one needed that kind of nib and they worked just fine. They might work on carbonless forms too, but you still have to apply pressure. Some carbonless paper is thin and might tear with a fine point. Also some carbonless forms aren't well suited for fountain pen ink which may spread or soak through.

I just made a post a week or two ago about a maanifold nib I go in. Very nice nib indeed, it's the 9460 nib and I have a photo to compare how thick they are. It is a VERY nice smooth tip to write with.

The nib came in this beauty. For some reason, I really like this Deluxe model. I think it's the cap because it is very thick and not what you would expect on a third tier pen.

Well, the Deluxe was even more "third tier" like than the J's are. Cheaper plastic, non-styled section ect..

Lets just say it's no Montblanc! LOL

I applied a 9461 to a three-part form a little while ago, and it worked like stink. The same form took a good impression from a 1555, but the operation felt a little less certain.

Thanks. I couldn't take any chances, so I ordered both 9460 and 9461 just in case I actually get one of the 7 esterbrooks I have restored.
