Has anyone had any experience trying to increase the flow of Noodlers Black?

Specifically, I am thinking about some form of additive - water or soap perhaps - which might be added to the ink to get it to flow a little better. I love the ink but have found that it tends not to flow as freely in some of my finer nibs!

I appreciate your input! biggrin.gif

You can use Tryphon InkSafe: a drop per bottle will increase ink flow and help prevent bacterial and fungal growth. Two drops will provide a very free flowing ink.
Soap or dish soap is OK IN THE PEN, if used directly in the ink bottle, they can foster bacterial growth.Pen care products catalog

Success.......

I used Frank's old trick. I put some Noodlers Black in a small cup, dipped a toothpick in some dishwashing liquid, removed excess soap, swirled in cup, transferred ink into FP and viola. The flow has increased just enough to perform perfectly in my FP. Now I only hope that the addition of the soap does not cause other bad things to happen! biggrin.gif

Kodak Photo Flo might work.

I just wanted to report back that I have had better success simply thinning my Noodlers Black with a little distilled water. This simple solution has caused the nik to perform much better in my relatively dry FP's.

Boy, that was simple! Why did it take me so long to figure it out? wink.gif

well, probably because some inks tend to get too watered down or even reduced flow if you add water. and you've probably heard this before. Obviously, not all inks react the same. smile.gif

Does anyone know what other liquid - besides water and/or detergent - can be used to dilute FP ink like Noodlers to increase flow?

My home experimenting continues.......

Last night I mixed some Somat (anti-spotting dishwasher additive made by Henkel) with some distilled water. Put two drops in my Danitrio Densho, filled with Noodlers Black......

Based upon my initial testing, this may be a winning combination. BTW, I just ordered some Kodak Photo Flo online. I plan to try that next. Eventually, I hope to find the ideal mixture that works for me (Noodlers Black with its great properties but a mixture that will not occassionally clog my feed!)

I will report back! biggrin.gif
