I'm getting ready to finally order my Nakaya. I'm going between the piccolo and portable writer cigar. My favorite pen that I use is a Pelikan 620 (600 series size). From people that own these pens, could you give me some opinions as to which of those two would be closest to that size.

Thanks!

Hey, Penguin, can't wait to see a pic of your pen once it gets to you! I know your question is about size differences, but one thing that swayed me toward a Piccolo Writer instead of the cigar model was the tamenuri finish. I find the color variations more dramatic because of the sharper edges on the Piccolo. If you're getting a solid color, this wouldn't be much of a factor. Just my two cents! Good luck with your order. bunny01.gif

This is a link to a chart on their web page that gives all the dimension information. Dimension Chart

There is also another page on their site that gives you nib sizes.

The Pelikan M600 is about 134mm in length capped. The Nakaya website notes that the Nakaya Piccolo Cigar is 130mm capped, while the Writer and Cigar Portables are 149mm. Uncapped, the Piccolo is 116mm long, while the Pelikan M600 is about 128mm long. The Writer and Cigar Portables are also listed at 128mm from nib to the end of the barrel. Judging solely by these dimensions, the Portable size might be right for you assuming you write unposted.

On a personal note, I have a Pelikan M605 and a Piccolo Cigar, as well as a Nakaya Equilibrium long size on its way. I really like my Piccolo Cigar. It is a short and stout pen which works just fine for me unposted, especially because the Piccolo has some girth to the grip section. But it may be too short for some people to use unposted (posted, the Piccolo is 160mm). For my second order, I wound up going with the long size simply because I've been enjoying large and extra large pens lately.
