From the Notebookism website: A European resource

When Biella made its first binders in 1908, the notebook and stationery maker helped Switzerland’s federal authorities put order in their files. At that time, the distinctive binder already featured the Swiss cross on the back, became synonymous with order, and came to be known in popular parlance as “Classeur fédéral” or “Bundesordner”. A legend was born.

Today’s Canteo™ Collection has been inspired by its legendary predecessor. The silver-embossed Swiss cross and “Classeur fédéral + Bundesordner” trademark still adorn Canteo™ stationery products to celebrate their venerable history and quality craftsmanship. With its exquisite Canteo™ Collection, Biella taps the rich tradition of the 1908 binder to suit the exacting and spirited culture of today.

Nurtured by the dynamic environment of the town of Biel destined to be the home to the Swiss watchmaking industry, the namesake maker of premier stationery products combines pioneering spirit, expertise and know-how to deliver value worthy of recognition. Canteo™ epitomizes a spirit of precision and excellence in craftsmanship.

The Canteo™ stationery is a tribute to the human spirit in its most intimate and lasting expression – handwriting. By becoming a unique medium when thoughts are put down on it, the paper itself constitutes a valuable return on the time invested. Passing time cannot be halted but Canteo™ lends substance to thoughts and, in a way, makes them timeless. The living energy of the paper fosters reflection and stimulates the senses.

Whether you write or illustrate your thoughts in the Canteo™ notebook or use the diary to note your appointments, Canteo™’s choice materials, intelligent features and uncompromising quality do justice to what you consider most personal. Canteo™ not only provides guidance; it also makes room for creative input and joie de vivre.

Canteo™ becomes the expression of a most personal style – your very own.

I can't even see European Union country links on the website, they all seem to be Swiss.

They make an unlined A4 journal! Now I've gotta figure out how to get one...

Dear Doug,

Are you still interested in getting a Canteo A4 blank journal? If yes, please let me know! Send me your address by eMail.
I'm the responsible person for the Canteo product range here at Biella Group's headquarter. I leaded the development of the range, the story and the marketing. There's really my heart in it.
We are already in touch with a potential distributor in the US, but you can imagine, that it needs somes time to enter a (for us) totally new market... I guess, Canteo won't be available in the US earlier than spring 2009.
I really would like to know from you, what you think about the book - if you still like to receive one, don't hesitate to contact me.

So, I'm looking forward to hear from you.

Kind regards,
Rolf

Hi Rolf,

I just sent you an email telling you that I am indeed still interested. I am currently testing a Kunst & Papier journal which is okay, but the paper is a bit "soft" (don't know how else to describe it). I'll have a review up on that journal perhaps in a week or so (I am away from my desk at a conference at the moment).

Thanks much.

Any updates on Canteo products arriving in the US. I'm keen to try them especially if the paper can survive the fountain pen onslaught.

I managed to pick up a Canteo notebook, ruled #09 (I believe), and am very impressed. They're beautifully designed with lightweight but solid covers and excellent paper. They'll definitely be replacing my Moleskines when available in the US. Kudos to Biella.

cheers

I've been looking for a while. I can't even find any European dealers who have them on their websites.

I had emailed Rolf for a free sample book, and have not yet recieved it. I have only ordered a couple of days ago, so I know it should not be here yet, but I was wondering how long it took for others to get theirs.

Just received an A5 lined. Very impressed. Wish there was a dealer that would ship internationally to the US.

Well...about 5 minutes after posting, my mom told me the mail had come, and indeed there was a package for me. So, I am very impressed with the speed of the mail.

I have yet to try the paper, but I will see about it tommorow.
