I just got a new VP for my BDay. I am curious though - it has a converter, but how do you get it out and put cartridges in? It seems that the converter is one piece. Also - I thought that the VPs were easy to change the nibs on, but I don't see how to do that either. I know these are probably dumb questions, but wondering if anyone can help. Thanks!

The converter just pulls out of the metal part and the pen comes with a metal jacket which you put over the cartridge so it doesn't get squashed when you press the button. To change the nib you replace the whole nib assembly which is available for around $25.00.

Couldn't have put it better.

The VP is pretty modular, the nib unit is the whole thing. If you take the converter out to use cartridges the metal cover for them is important for the reason above...

yes DO NOT FORGET THE JACKET. Personal experience of one who doesn't read the directions and had a heck of a time after embarrassed_smile.gif

Mine was difficult to remove. I used a wide rubber band to assist holding the metal barrel and plastic sleeve of the converter between my finger tips. Pull with slight twist and be careful of the nib. When it separated it was sudden and jumped a few inches, so point it in a safe direction.

Yes, and when you place it back in, make sure it is seated all the way back in or you may leak ink. I have, I think, 5 VP's, all snug like this.

Thanks everyone for your accurate and timely responses!

But now I have another question - I figured out how to unseat the converter (duh) but you referred to a "metal jacket" for using cartridges. I did not see anything like that in the box - is that a separate piece that should have come with the pen? Thanks again for responses.

NEVER MIND!! I FOUND IT UNDER THE PACKAGING! LOL! Thanks again everyone!
