I am certainly not an expert but if feels high to me. I have a Blue Lapis and a Black an Pearl in this size but they do not have the deco band and are probably not in as pristine condition or color. I guess the value is what he can get for it but I wouldn't offer but about $250 but it is probably worth $350-$500. Maybe the Wahlnut will chime in with the real dope on the value. The above is just my opinion and how much I would pay.

Ashley,

In reality, "the going price" is what it finally goes for. This pen should fetch a Premium value for sure. Top notch pens in mint condition that have never been used with original paperwork, original box and original price tags are the top of the line price-wise. This pen is advertised without those bells and whistles, but it is an exceptionally nice pen though. The "Buy it Now" price is the sellers best hoped for price. I notice there is a "Make Offer" allowance on this auction. I believe you can make one on record eBay offer but that may have changed so if you can only make one offer go ahead and say what you would be willing to pay. If you can make more than one offer, start where you like and be prepared to up your offer if necessary. Even if you max out on the make offers allowed you can ask the seller a question and deal via messages and then close through eBay without breaking their rules.

Without trying to "mix in" unnecessarily, in my experience the "Buy it Now Price" on this item would be well above (75%) the normal high water mark in my experience for a Rosewood Deco Band. But when we are talking about Primo examples of any pen the premium can go up sharply. The again sometimes sellers go fishing for a buyer with the intention of selling only if they can realize top top dollar. And a seller who is in love with his or her merchandise can prove to be a hard bargainer as they may not want to part with an item unless they get the price they will part with the loved possession for.

Good luck

Bruce sells nice pens, but this would probably be a record price for a Rosey Deco. Time and the market do determing things, though.

I think 1700 is off the chart but half that would be right. I'd grab it myself for 500.

Thanks so much for your input everyone.

By the way, whoever is selling this pen is the same person who has the coral set and said there that he has a coral decoband. I emailed him asking for a picture, he said he would not be home for a couple weeks. I wrote again asking him to please post a picture here but haven't gotten an answer.

If the colour of this pen as shown in the pics is the same in real life its stunning. This is what the ripple pattern should look like but so rarely seen anymore.

The value of the pen is what someone will pay for it.

I must disagree. The market value is not what one person will pay for it on one occasion. I bought a mandarin Duofold Sr at a garage sale for $25, that doesn't set its value. Now if the next 5 or 10 woodgrain decos sell for that kind of price, THEN we are seeing a change in the market. By the way I have one every bit as nice as this one that I'd sell for well under 1700. Not to advertise because I don't especially want to sell it, but to make a valuation point.
