I see a fair amount of information and pictures on the regular Eversharps, but I rarely see anything about the solid gold Command Performance models.
Does anyone own one, and care to share some information? Thank you.
Wahl made solid gold pens back to the early '20s, but I think you mean the later pens like Skylines. Skylines were made with solid gold caps and in models with solid caps and barrels. They come in four patterns, smooth, horizontal grooves (line the gold filled caps), vertical lined and chevron. I've seen a few others but suspect they were done aftermarket by jewelers. Solid gold Skylines are not that uncommon. During the war years gold was not a material needed for the war effort so gold was often one of the few luxury items readily available. You also see a lot of 5th Avenue pens in solid gold (caps that is). I'm not sure what other info you are looking for. The chevron models are the most rare. it is hard to find any of them without dings because gold is soft. With gold prices high many are being melted.
