I want to purchase a Visconti FP. I’m teetering between a Van Gogh maxi and midi. No stores available to have a look and test. Please help with a recommendation. Is the larger size and gold nib of the Maxi worth the extra bucks? Any other considerations, such as older Visconti pens with more flexible nibs? Thanks for the help.

There is a Swisher Laguna Verde Maxi with a buyout of $145 on eBay right now. Item # 300201895959. You won't find a Maxi cheaper, and the Laguna Verde has had some very good reviews on this site. The pictures do not really do it justice.

Me too! I'm biased, having 4 Maxis and no Midis. It's a very LONG pen in the hand, nearly 7 inches posted. But the size and balance is excellent for long writing sessions, posted or unposted, depending on your preference. While Visconti's steel nibs are so smooth as to be nearly undistinguishable from the gold when writing, the overall aesthetics of the Maxi's size, width and nib are just superior on the Maxi. This design is well on it's way to being a classic.

I bagged one of the Swishers over Christmas and the colors are far superior in person to the photographs. At first glance, I didn't like it. Then I saw the pen in sunlight and was hooked. Very subtle, compared to some of their darker offerings, but addictive.

Which color and nib did you choosed? Did you get a bicolor nib?

Thanks, it's a Laguna Verde (light green) with a 14k gold nib. It's not a new pen, I bought it on eBay from a fellow FP collector.
