Full Version: New Sailor Mosaic....

I came across John Mottishaws website (www.nibs.com) which is now offering Sailor Mosaic fountain pens (marbled design).

They look very nice!

Does anybody know if those are re-introduced finishes or are these NOS items?

I also wonder about the differently shaped cap-tops!

'Hope Sailor is making those again as they really look tempting.

Cheers

I'm not sure. I noticed Nibs.com has two different style of mosaic pens; Professional Gear-style flat-top and Profit-style torpedo-shaped ones. I thought they started selling Professional Gear Mosaic may be last fall. I found some online stores carrying Profit Mosaic in Japan, too, but they come with Naginata-togi nibs.

These are brand new release from sailor. I saw the sailor booth at the pen show and I specifically asked about these pens and they will be released soon if not already released. These are super cool in person but will be a bit expensive. Regardless, I love the material that these pens are using!!!

I, too, saw them at the LA pen show. They were even more attractive than John's photos show.

...that's what I was hoping for!

Can't wait to see them in real life.

Then I only had to decide between the red-blue, green-blue or grey-brown marbled one.

BUT what cap tops do the pens have? Flattop or streamlined?

Thank's for your comments

From the photo, the 'red mosaic' color reminds me of the material from which my
Sailor Magellan is made.

Does anybody know whether these come in silver-color hardware options, or is it gold only? The blue-gray marble is nice -- but at $600 rather expensive compared to the $100's range regular pens. As for what kind to get -- Pro-gear of course (flat-top)! The Pro-gear/Sapporo design is genius for Sailor and will become their best-known shape rather than 1911, mark my words. The "bloated flat-top" design, as I like to call it, is not only unique in the pen industry (unlike the torpedo design), but also allows the best display of the Sailor corporate identity: that 3-D anchor looks and feels gorgeous on the flat top of the Pro-gear and Sapporo.

They were selling for $400+ at the LA Pen show, so they're likely to be more in that range in the future.

i just looked and only found pictures of mosaic pens that looks like pro-gear in shape. strange, 'cos the text says: "This pen has the same shape as the full size 1911 at just a half size smaller." maybe their already out of the profit style mosaics.

I think Nibs.com has updated photos after this thread started, but they have not done so for the description biggrin.gif

In Japan they have the Mosaic with Silver appointments. See http://item.rakuten.co.jp/nagasawa/progearmozaiku-silver/
Perhaps it is a Nagasawa special.

I stand corrected...
