Hi there,

My question is pretty simple, is $250 total cost a good price for a new-ish Omas Paragon Extra (i.e including shipping)?

My follow-up question is, what is the difference between the regular Paragon and the Extra?

Thanks for your help.

Isn't "Paragon" a size? Like Milord? Aren't there many Omas pens in this style?
If it's the Arco Celluloid that is all the rage at the moment, it is a very good deal indeed!

I'm pretty sure it isn't an Arco Celluloid. It may be a 75th anniversary pen, but I doubt it. The imprint on the barrel just says "OMAS EXTRA".

Looks like it might be. (no affiliation to nibs.com)

The style of the Paragon changed, and there's a lot of availability of the discontinued ones. I got a Milord at a sweet price as a result. I don't like the metal section of the new Paragon; I almost certainly wouldn't buy one (I tend not to like metal sections and excuse some, but not most).

As for the difference between them: I don't know, but I'm sure there's someone around here who does. smile.gif

I think 250 is a sweet deal on the Paragon Extra for the condition you describe. Any older, all celluloid Paragon, is getting harder and harder to find. Good thing you didn't put up the seller or it wouldn't be there now. I bought a new Milord from Weaver at penseller.com before he closed for $209. A much smaller pen in the same design that you could say was a sleeper until the full size Paragons dried up.

I'm not 100% sure, I thought the Paragon Extra was just a model. Some changes were made to the nib design and dimensions, and clip, and out morphed the Paragon. Now we have a totaly new design although Omas calls it a tribute Paragon. I have one of these.

Indeed, the Extra is most similar to the pre-2005 Paragon and Milord. So $250 is not too bad.
The older Omas pens are starting to creep up to the unattainable-to-the-average man range.
A 1935-45 Lucens will really set one back a few $K.

The Dolcini book on Omas and the entire lineup can make one really drool. The photos and descriptions of the models are a must.
If you ever see one, snap it up as they were a limited production book.I rarely see them anymore.
