Okay..just for fun:

I presently own:
Pelikan 800 Green / Piston Fill
Parker 51 Maroon / Aerometric Fill
Eversharp Skyline Blue (Gold cap) / Lever Fill
Parker Vac - Gold Celluloid / Vac Fill

It's a nice 'cross section' of:
Vintage vs New
Different Mfgs
Different colors / matching ink
All excellent writers - most importantly

I do sales and consulting work and they are fun for conversation and I use them everyday.

So the question is: What would be your suggestion for the next pen in my 'collection' (not that I consider myself as such) and why in keeping with this 'theme'.

Anyway, thanks for playing. I look forward to your responses. I enjoy this site and all you members!

Cheers,

Steve

Right off hand I'd say something either Japanese or Italian. Just for some "international" variation...

Keeping in stride for fun conversation and everyday use, maybe a Pilot vanishing point. Always fun to see the reaction of the clip placement and that there is no cap. For a different finish, cabonesque/kasuri. Or, visit the Japanese site Ujuku and get a finish not found in the US, like the red/black, blue/black, green/black or the red or green kasuri.

Or, you could go with the current rage and get a clear demonstrator. Pilot has one, Lamy has Vista, etc.

Vintage, I think it would be a great conversation starter to have a crescent filler.

just suggestions.

A crescent or a lever-filler would make great conversation-pieces. In their day, they were both extremely common, but nobody knows what they are these days and seeing one might spark some interesting reactions.

It's for that reason I've always wanted a lever-filler. And now I have one! laugh.gif

Vintage Duofold Sr.

May I suggest:

Omas Arco Milord
Stipula Etruria
Aurora Afrika/Europa

DaniTrio Mikado in Urushi
Pilot Vanishing Point Raden
Pilot Custom 823
amh210
Vanishing Point! Cool, fun, and handy.

Old Esterbrook J. Lever Fillers are cool to show to noobs.

Sheaffer Snorkel. Also fun to show off. Squirt like the 3 Stooges, too!

Old Waterman HR. Look for the oldest writer you can find. Few can resist a pen older than their grandparents!

Oh yeah, that'll definitely turn heads! roflmho.gif

I want to get one of these two pens. Either one with a Houou design. Just a personal pick. Houou is a phoenix which is a bird that rises, reborn from its own ashes and I had a house fire where I lost everything and think it would be fitting for me to have one somehow.

Wow...great suggestions!

A couple such as the old BCHR's / Crescents crossed my mind too as did the vanishing point and snorkel.

The others I am going to research and learn more

Thanks much for taking the time to reply...really nice to get input!

Best wishes to all,

Steven

Wait, wait! Also consider a Visconti Van Gogh. They are beautiful pens, warm to the hand and certainly turn heads. They also write extremely well! thumbup.gif

I'd also add a couple cheapies for "free giveaways/loaners" to the really interested folks... Varsity, or similar.

Get more hooked!

Heya slowhand...

How about a Sheaffer Triumph-nibbed vac-filler? I forget the model name, but they were available in several finishes, look (imo) mighty good and when properly restored, hold prodigious amounts of ink.

Alternately, a snorkel filler such as the PFM1 would be cool - with a little practice, you could probably fill someone's ear with ink from 6-feet - ideal for those long, boring meetings where someone's waffling on for the pleasure of hearing their own voice, rather than actually contributing anything constructive... wallbash.gif (been there, would'a done that, but I didn't have the pen... rolleyes.gif )

Cheers... G.

I personally like the Stipula Ventidue (aka 22), though the Vedo is kinda cute. I'd rather have the 22, though (I have a titanium-nibbed one, but the current ones are gold-nibbed).

I can give you a L O N G list of pens but I will make this short and sweet.

For vintage pens try the Sheaffer Snorkel, its a wonderful pens and ones you stick the little tube out its a great conversation piece too.

New pens I'd get the Mont Blanc 149.
The pen is the classiest around and a wonderful writer.Highly recommended.

The image of squirting ink is funny...I like the snorkel idea. Thanks for the input!

If you want to stay on the western side, I would recommend a Montblanc or a Waterman.

If you want to try something new, definitely Namiki Pilot Vanishing Point is a great writer. And no-risk affordable pens are Heros (some cost just $5) and Wing Sungs (excellent writers) from Isellpens.com - just for fun and gifts to spread the bug.

I think you need something in celluloid. Lots of those to choose from. Maybe a jade Doufold or Scheaffer Flat Top?

A Wahl Doric, but you already have a Skyline, so maybe not.

How about a Balance with a vacuum filler?
