Since starting to read FPN, I just couldn't resist getting Japanese pens! So, here's my first (more to come embarrassed_smile.gif )

I've just received my new Sailor Profit - "saibi" fountain pen.
This pen nib was created by Mr. Nagahara, and is said to be 0.26mm width when lines for horizontal lines, 0.18 mm width lines for vertical lines.

It is interesting that I feel that it is bit scrachy when I'm moving pens horizontal, but doesn't feel scratchy when writing vertical.

I'm not a big fan of plastic pens. So the appearence didn't attract me much. Just looks cheaper, which I can say the same with my black Namiki Falcon.

Nib is smoother than I thought it would be, but I can understand that a bit of scrachiness may suit writing Japanese (which includes Chinese characters) rather than cursive hand.

It comes with small cleaning kit to clean the nib as it may be blocked by the ink residuals.

I think it will make a good everyday pen. I'll see how different it is from my xxxf pen from Richard Binder.

Thank you very much for the photo and your writing sample. IIRC the cleaning kit was for paper fiber, rather than ink residual. It's interesting that the nib has such a big (in a relative sense biggrin.gif) width difference between vertical and horizontal strokes.
