Cruachan

I just thought that I'd make a mention about the excellent service I've just received from Max at Max Pens (www.maxpens.de). I can't recommend him highly enough to anybody who needs a vintage Montblanc repaired. I had a 1950s Montblanc which wasn't filling properly when I got it and, although I did get it to fill (with some good advice from this forum - thanks), it was leaking slightly. To cut a long story short, after sending the pen to Montblanc (who wanted about as much money for attempting a repair, with no guaranteed outcome, as it would have been to buy a new pen) and trying one of the UK restorers, who didn't really think it was repairable, I was directed to Max by members of this forum. I sent the pen off and sixteen days later I had it back: the leak fixed, overhauled and ready to be put back into use! Max was really great with keeping me informed of progress, without me asking, and the repair was very, very reasonably priced too. Thank goodness there are still real craftsmen out there who have the tools, the materials and know-how to keep these pens working. So for anybody needing a Montblanc repaired or serviced, I don't think you'd go far wrong sending your pen to Max. Thanks again to this forum's members who pointed me in the right direction.

That's great to hear. I've always heard great things about Max.
I'm just curious as to what MB model you had and what was ultimately the cause of the leak.

Good to hear that cruachan. I think Max is already among us in the forum. I saw his posts days ago elsewhere. Bravo Max!

I also had 3 vintage MB pens repaied by Max and his service is excellent. I am about to send to him another 149 from the 60s that needs a new piston mechanism. he really knows what is doing
