Full Version: Leaky MYU

My MYU701 has been leaking very badly over the past few fillings. It's gotten so bad of late that I can remove the cap and find the ENTIRE nib section covered in ink, and when I write ink routinely leaks from the ring section and stains my fingers. I've checked Russ Stutler's website and ensured that the ring is in the proper place, so I have no idea what's wrong.

Perhaps it's the very wet climate I live in (Singapore, with relative humidity at 90 or so all year round). Or perhaps I got a faulty unit. It's still very pretty to look at after I've given it a good flushing, but I'm really getting quite fed up with this pen otherwise.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Sorry to hear that about your MYU. I don't think climate has anything to do with this. These pens were made mainly for the asian market afterall. Most likely something else is wrong with it. Are you using cartridge or converter?

Mine had hairline cracks along the length of the nib case, the could only be seen when I took the (expletive deleted) thing apart and could open up the crack.

Amother for the parts box!

At the LA Pen Show someone stopped by my table and had the same problem.
It appeared he had an old converter that did not seat well onto the nipple. the can also occur if you are reusing cartridges.
Try a new cartridge or converter.

Hi,

You can try to change the converter to another CON-20 converter, get new cartridges, and be sure to rinse the ink out of the cap. Some older CON-20 converters have a problem with the interfacing/connection material.
