I prefer aerometric converters and need a few for Sheaffer Imperial fountain pens; anyone know if the one currently being sold as " Sheaffer Fountain Pen Converter for Targa" will work? If not, what converter should I be looking for, since most of the ones I see now specify a current model in the description. Also, where can I get it at a good price? Thanks

The squeeze type of converter should fit any Imperial. I don't know for certain, but suspect that even the twist (piston) type will fit too. I'm hedging my bets here though, because some Sheaffers, like the Connaisseur and Scripserts will not take the twist type of converter.

The Compact line of Imperials are cartridge ONLY pens. The barrel is too short, and even the short button type of converter will not fit in the pen.

Pendemonium, Betrams Inkwell, FPH, or any other Sheaffer dealer should have them.

Ron - I had a Connaisseur, the Levenger model, that did take the piston converter. It took the same converter as my NoNonsense. This same converter fit in my Imperial.

I have an Imperial with a Squeeze Converter in it, but I haven't tried the piston converter yet. I'll have to try it out to see if it fits next time that pen is dry.

Several weeks ago, I inquired to the PENDEMONIUM (http://www.pendemonium.com) whether or not the coverter on the ad would good for my Imperial. The reply was "You need the 99500 aerometric style converter for the Imperial." Please visit their page. I assume that they still have some in stock.

I have two Connaisseur, the Levenger model FPs. The current piston converter does not fit because is is too long, although it seemingly fit in my Imperial. I would like to know if the shorter verson of the piston conveter is available.

I would greatly appreciate your reply.

For my Imperial, the piston converter fits into the barrel. But it is a bit tight. When I unscrew the barrel, the barrel will pull out the piston converter if not done carefully.

I wonder if the converters were modified on the Levenger models or there was something diffrent about the barrels, as the twist converters don't seem to fit the standard Connaisseur. I have often wondered if the one for the Intrigue would fit as it is a bit shorter.

Anyone ever tried it?

I can confirm that the aerometric "for targa" fits just fine in the Imperial. I had previously bought one of the 99500s from Pendemonium, at a pen show, but $15 each is a bit rich when buy in quantity. Instead, I bought 6 of the "for Targa" aeromentrics from SwisherPens for $4 each and I am happy camper with converters in every Imperial.
