Hi,
I was reading the description of this pen in Dalys Pen website and it mentioned the nib is stored in the body of the pen? It doesn't say that it is a retractible model, say like the Pilot retractible (which is a very heavy pen). Could someone clarify and also comment on writing characteristics?

I do not know of any other retractible fountain pen except the Pilot.

Hi W,

The Charisma is like any other fountain pen with a screw-on cap, it's just a bit confusing because the cap is so much longer than the body of the pen! headsmack.gif Hopefully the following photo will clarify it. Once you unscrew the cap from the nib and barrel (too short for a converter, these only take short international cartridges), you just post the cap on the barrel end as with any other pen.

The nib is the standard medium steel two-toned Monteverde nib. This is actually the pen design that first attracted me to Monteverde, and I've happily used my red one for about 6 years now.

Bultaco
The Visconti Metropolis has a retractable nib, but still requires removal and re-installation of a traditional cap. This tends to make the retractable nib more of a novelty, but its still retractable. And the action of extending and retracting the nib is one luxuriously smooth operation. If only all automotive controls and switches could be so solid and smooth. Beware however of the very soft silver covering the resin pen body. It is somewhat dent prone if handled carelessly.

Thanks for the photo demo and clarification. This brand is 'next on the list' to get.
