Full Version: Seminole Sepia?

O.K., I'm in my brown period. Every time I "need" some more ink I find myself seriously considering another brown. Have several browns or almost-browns (Waterman's Havana brown, PR Copperburst, Noodler's red/black, PR Black Cherry). I tried PR Chocolat but it looked too much like the Havana brown in my pens. Noodler's Walnut is on order.

So, does anyone have a scan of SwishMix Seminole Sepia? Or any experience with it that you'd like to share?

Thanks much,

John

I had Seminole Sepia, which I ended up giving away. It was too light for my taste, and it didn't particularly flow very well. I posted a scan in my ink book from way back when here.

What am I thinking? I should have come directly to you in the first place!

Thank you. Yes, I agree, too light for my tastes as well. I can take that one off my list.

John, have you tried the Visconti Sepia yet? That is the one I always come back to, with Kiowa Pecan a close second.
Cedar
Diamine Sepia which has a golden cast to it to my eye. Or R&K Sepia which looks closer to Stipula Sepia in girlieg33k's scan. It has a slight grayish cast to it but is one of my favorites. I dislike the color brown a lot but for some odd reason love brown inks as long as they're not too brown.

Firefyter-EMT & Cedar,

Great advice/suggestions. I'll check 'em out. wink.gif

Here are some recent scans of Seminole Sepia and several other browns.

A pleasant fast-dry and waterproof ink that is on the weak side. I just ad a small squirt of Bulletproof black to mine to deepen it up a notch.

Interesting. I wonder if folks test that kind of mixing out in small amounts first.

I've tried the Stipula Calamo ink first hand and really like it.
