Picked up a couple of new pens this morning and I thought I'd post a few pics of my THINK Sahara.

Pretty pen, Apollo. Out of curiosity, which one of the pics best represents the colors in the pen?

Best, Ann

Ann, it depends on the way light hits it. With natural light, the colour looks more like the picture in the middle.

I've seen these pens before and was very intrigued. I hope you'll have time to do a review sometime, Apollo. I'm excited to hear what you think of the pen.
Apollo
Thanks Ryan, I will. I'll be putting it through it's paces this weekend and I'll review how it performs.

pretty pretty. sorta reminiscent of the pelikan place de la concorde, no? how does it write?

I didn't realize that think did FPs as well. They sort of look like Marlen Krone but if the RBs are any guide a more reasonable price! How is it on size?

It's not what I would call a large pen, but then someone with small hands may think so. I've filled it up with Waterman Havana to give it a go and as so far so good. I'll post more pics and a review (hopefully) by tomorrow.

Davyr, I agree. It's pattern does remind one of the Pelikan Place de la Concorde. Krone is the mother company for THINK and a few have mentioned that the Place de la Concorde looks more like something Krone would do instead of Pelikan, so that explains the similarity.

Nice purchse, Apollo! I was just reading up on the pens. Not many places online sell them so I am wondering if they are a recent off-shoot of Krone unsure.gif In any case, I like the nice clean lines and lack of clutter in the design. They have some lovely patterns to choose from, too.

Looking forward to reading a review of the pen, if you get a chance! Thanks for posting the photos here smile.gif

Nice pen and pics. Looking forward to the review!

Thanks for sharing that Apollo!

I think Sahara (now that wasn't intentional but it certainly looks funny biggrin.gif) is a great name for this pen. It certainly looks like a cross section through a sand dune, with the layering of different colours of sand, so very apt indeed.

I am looking forward to the review, too!

Warm regards, Wim

Is it just me or do I remember seeing somewhere that THINK pens are Krone's "street brand". Toyota to Krone's Lexus.

Lexus makes Toyotas? ohmy.gif

Could be, Kendall....but you won't find any info like that on the official Krone website. They seem pretty secretive about the company's origins. Marlen and Krone share the same address for their U.S. head office...

Mysterious....

Nope, Toyota makes Lexus. Quite a few of the major Japanese makers invented upmarket brands for markets where Japanese cars were thought of as unusual, but I think only Toyota's Lexus and Honda's Acura have survived.

Hi Maja,

Marlen and Krone are certainly not the same company. Marlen is a Belgian company, owned by a single person, who has his pens made in Italy, by different companies, to his own specs, I understand.

here in the us, we also have infiniti, the upscale made-up-only-for-america's-brand-conscious-consumers line from nissan.

apparently in japan, there is no acura - all the models are called hondas. smile.gif

It's more than just that Toyota makes Lexus and Nissan makes Infinity. Chevy makes Cadillac/Buick/Olds/Volvo/Saab. Ford makes Lincoln, Jaguar. Chrysler makes MB. And on and on - no surprising if it's in the FP industry also. Look at the example of nibs - only a few makers.

...but perhaps some Krone pens are/were made by Marlen? (link to Krone button-fillers article on Penspotters.com here).

I guess because Krone and Marlen share the same U.S. address for repairs and they have exhibited together at shows, I have them linked in my mind. smile.gif

Yup, Look here. They are marketed as Krone "THINK Series"
