Full Version: Repairs to a Montblanc 146

I'm trying to get my treasured Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 repaired; it has (I think) blown a seal, and leaks ink from where the piston knob meets the barrel. Montblanc won't help, saying they don't have the parts for the pen (1973 model), and independent repairers in the UK say they can't get the parts from Montblanc! wallbash.gif

I don't want to accept Montblanc's offer of 25% discount on a new pen (the semi-flex nib on mine is much nicer), and I don't really want to swap the nib into a new one either. Is there anyone out there - perhaps in the US - who could do the job properly?

Thanks
Richard

edit: piston not plunger!

Hi Richard,

FPNer "Antonio" asked a similar question re: MB repairs so I cut and pasted my reply to him here. Hope you don't mind smile.gif

Rick Propas (in California) might be able to help you out, as he repairs vintage Pelikans which are (generally) piston-fillers too. His website is:
Rick "the PENguin Propas' website (click link).

Also, doesn't Lex Villines (another Californian) repair vintage Montblancs? I know he has written an article on pen restoration for Pentrace and he hangs out there. Does some amazing work converting pens to pneu-fillers...Anyway, you could try contacting him at lexvil@sbcglobal.net (he gives this address out on Pentrace)
.

No affiliation to either person but I have bought from Rick before, and recently from Lex . Both were very nice smile.gif

Good luck!

Thanks Maja. In fact, I've just bought the parts from another PTer, and will give them to one of the UK repairers to use. smile.gif

Excellent! Thanks for the update. I hope they can get the pen back to working order for you, Richard smile.gif
