Thanks for posting the link. I really want a Transparent M200 and haven't been able to find anywhere in the UK that still has them in stock. I have emailed Deutsche Pen to find out how much shipping will be and as long as it isn't too bad, I will have to get my credit card out!

You may as well look at the marketplace http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=54312, as we speak there is a translucid M250 for sale, 80 dollars.

I have been looking at the marketplace and have so far not found the right pen, where a seller would ship outside of America. Thanks for the link, it looks a nice pen, I will contact the seller and see if they will ship it to the UK.

Bear in mind that depending on your luck, you could end up having to pay VAT, possible Customs duties and a few to Royal Mail or whoever the UK carrier turns out to be if you do end up paying them. This could add significantly to the cost of the pen.

You may of course be lucky and it will get through without attracting attention, but best to be aware.

True, I have seen some pens that look a really good deal, especially as the exchange rate is good at the moment, but by the time you factor in VAT, Customs duty etc then there is not always that much of a difference, compared to buying the same pen in the UK.

With the M200 I really like the transparent models, not so keen on the solid coloured ones and, as I haven't been able to find one in the UK, it might be time for my heart to over rule my head and go for it regardless of the potential import duties etc.

What I really need of course, is for a kindly UK based FPN member to decide that they have a transparent M200 that they would like to go to a good home wink.gif

If the fellow Fp member is as kind as to state "present" on the package, we, overtaxed to death Europeans will avoid ending up paying 3 or 4 times for an EU made item!. Just a reminder on how things work....

I got mine from www.pengallery.com but it was a while ago. The model was a Pelikan M205 i.e. with the silver trim.

Thanks for the link, I have checked their site and they don't have any. Never mind, I will keep looking, one is bound to turn up sooner or later.

The site was up a couple of days ago, but if you try and get to it now, you are directed to a holding page. A who is enquiry on the domain suggests that it may have expired - it doesn't show why though.

I did email them a couple of days ago about the Pelikan mentioned and haven't heard anything back from them.

Yes, it seems like a webmaster is going to be in trouble....

Not yet, but I plan to. Probably tonight. I have my eye on a red and a green. I'd like them better with silver trim, but really these are so nifty I have to get a couple. biggrin.gif

Green and red for me. I already have my ink colours picked out for them. biggrin.gif

Oh? Do tell!

Noodler's Green Marine for the green pen. I just love that ink, and it is my new designated story-writing ink. And Noodler's Burgundy for the red pen - although that's subject to change if I find a new ink I absolutely love.

Erk. I just noticed they have the grey ones too. Now which ink can I put in that one... blush.gif

I'm currently trying a diluted version of HoD, its light grey, sorta looks like pencil, but with shading where the ink pools. Its fun and permanent and won't smear even a little bit. Its what is in my M250 right now.

I like the "permanent" part of the eternal and bulletproof Noodler's. So I decided that that is all I'll buy. If I want another colour I'll have to mix it or hope that one comes out. I'm leaning towards Nikita as my red.

Not too taken with Polar blue, so thinking about Baystate as my blue.

I have just received a gorgeous transparent blue Pelikan 200 from Ray and I am over the moon with delight.
What a gentleman. Transit time from placing my order with Ray (deutsche pens) in the USA to the UK was less than one week. This, in my book, is smashing service. Many thanks Ray.

Greetings Good News,
I believe that Ray mentioned that he would be away this week so that is probably why you have not received any reply to your email.
Postage was approx $12 and I was lucky not to be stung for import duty. Discuss this issue with Ray.
Best of luck

Baystate hasn't always had the best of feedback in FPN. I would advise a look around FPN before buying any. I use Noodlers Luxury Blue, but this is reknowned for nib creep. Not a problem from my point of view as it is permanent, but it could be mixed with another blue and I assume that would reduce the nib creep.

I've seen all the Baystate stuff... But if I'm sticking it in a blue translucent its not really an issue. If an ink feathers I'll just use better paper.

Taking Baystate blue trades/donations... smile.gif

Did anyone actually order from them? I had tried to, and got an order confirmation, but when I logged back into my account, the order didn't exist. I've e-mailed twice, once in response to the confirmation, and once using their "Contact us" form. Now the website's down and one of the phone numbers (from the 2/28/2008 post) is out of service. I'd checked with my credit card company, and nothing has been charged. But at this point, I'd just as well cancel the order. hmm1.gif huh.gif

A couple of posters on this thread appear to have ordered one and received it. I didn't get any replies to my email enquiries so decided not to go ahead.

I just had a nice long conversation with Ray Adair, and he confirmed there has been a problem with the ordering system; they never even had a record of my order. They're keeping the site down until the issue is cleared up to his satisfaction.

So it appears to be just technical difficulties. thumbup.gif
