I'm selling a Parker 45 I bought NOS from a pen store. I was asked about the cap not having a jewel. When I purchased it, this 45 and others for sale had no jewel. Can anyone confirm for me that I didn't purchase a pen that should have had a jewel? Here's a link to my post: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=53939

Jason was asking on my behalf. I just thought the finish at the end of the cap looks a bit weird to me, although I understand the older 45 do not come with a jewel.

If you own a 45, can you please let me know if that is a typical finish at the end of the cap?

Most older 45s have a conical indentation in the cap tassie. Later ones have the indentation your photo shows. It's made that way so that they can stick in a little round "decal" that might be a company logo (for giveaway pens) or a person's initial (with the Parker personalization kit). I don't have any 45s with decals, but I've sold some from time to time, and I have a "B" decal in the tassie of my 75 Ciselé.

Thank you, Richard, for clearing my doubt.

Thanks so much Richard for sharing your knowledge. The ability to have questions like this answered is one of the reasons I truly enjoy FPN.
