If you own a black Montblanc do you mind sharing what colored ink you use? In fact, pelase specify ink and brand.

Thanks.

Blue Black Parker Quink or Private Reserve Chocolat ink for my black MB.

My Bordeaux MB always gets Noodlers Burgundy

PS my motto is : "Life is too short to write with ugly pens or with black ink!"

So you won't see me recommend black ink very often! I have 44 colors of ink with only two barely use bottles of black ink.

I use MB Blue in all my pens, not that I have many pens (2).
Just curious, but why specifically black Mont Blancs?
Ed44
Right now I'm using MB Racing Green in my 147 and MB Violet in my 100th Anniversary.

When I first purchased my Montblanc 149, I used the Montblanc Black ink that came in the box. But I quickly tired of all that black and switched to Montblanc Blue ink. Some folk don't like the color of Montblanc Blue, but I find it to look pretty nice when laid down by the 149's generously flowing medium nib.

I use Waterman Blue-Black in this black Montblanc:

Diamondback
When my MB 149 gets thirsty I let it drink Waterman Florida Blue. This is my staple ink and I use it for most of my vintage and modern pens. It has excellent flow properties and is safe to use in most pens.

I switch between OMAS black, Noodler's Blue, and Noodler's Blue-Black. I love Noodler's Blue!

My black 146 with platinum trim, medium nib is filled with the wonderful MB violet.
My black and white MB Fitzgerald, fine nib with MB British racing green is producing a gorgeous shade of olive.
And when my black 146 with gold trim returns from Richard Binder after getting a 0.6 mm stub, I wil have fun deciding what ink to use. rolleyes.gif

Very surprising results. My wife didn't want me to use my AUrora blue in my 146 because she says black is THE color. So I told her that I will do a quick poll here asking what color others use in their MB's. I asked for black specifically because the 146 is black.

So far non black is clearly the majority! That was enough for me to wash up the pen and flush out my Visconti black, which my new 146 doesn't seem to like anyway as it skips every so often.

Thanks!

The 146 has MB racing green loaded up right now, but my signature ink is MB bordeaux. The MB inks flow so well in the 146 that I haven't tried other ink in it as of yet, but I would love to give Noodler's Ellis Island a run through it.

Richard, what a beautiful pen you have there! smile.gif
Brings my 146 to shame! smile.gif

Usually Pelikan Brown, it has a nice irridescence that I like. Although I just bought a bottle of Waterman Havana brown. Now that is a brown brown! I also use Private Reserve Naples Blue. The shade reminds me of the clear blue water of the Caribbean. There is are a couple of other colors in the closet, but the brown and the blue are the two that get used the most.

BTW: my compliments on a refreshingly original topic. It is interesting to read what others are loading up with.

Black 149 F - Aurora black
Bordeaux 144 M - dark red (Visconti red with a touch of Visconti brown and black for good measure)
Black 344 semi-flex M - Waterman Florida blue
Black 146 F - empty

My mainstay for the past 14 years - Parker Quink black.

Also Parker Quink blue/black and Waterman blue/black.

I just bought that, as well. Alas, I forget which pen I filled with it. Guess I'll have to write with them all to find it. rolleyes.gif

Me too. Put Waterman havana brown in black pelikan 200. nice.

for my 149 I use:
50% Montblanc blue black ink
50% Montblanc Turquoise ink
sofian
I run Pelikan 4001 Brilliant Brown in my 149 - it seems to need ink with higher viscosity. If I run wetter inks (eg Quink) in it, the writing tends to bleed into the next page.

My staple ink is Visconti Sepia, it has a beautiful appearance from my 344 OBB. For a "close, but not quite black" I have some Noodlers Zhivago in a black Estie which just seems to fit the pen and it's very fine point.

About the only color other than MB Blue-Black or MB Black is MB Racing Green that I use in my 146 with and EF nib.

I love to use my med-nib MB classic (Chopin) with Aurora blue. Color and saturation are very nice. I prefer bold color, not watery ink. Does anyone have other brands that will give nice saturation?

I fill my Montblanc 146 Le Grande with one of the following:

1. Private Reserve Naples Blue
2. Noodler's Baystate Blue
3. Noodler's Legal Blue (available only from Art Brown not to be confused with Legal Lapis)

In my 149 Diplomat I use Private Reserve's Purple Mojo.
