Hello!!

I found this forum by doing a search for my ink.

In my Granny's estate, I found 7 brand new bottles of Sandford's Penit Washable Royal Blue Ink, 3/4oz.

They all have the numbers 9..(something, maybe 0?)..1 on the bottom, 3/4oz, and then all of them have different little numbers, 1, 21, 14, etc. What are those for??

Does anyone know when these were made? They're 'diamond' like bottles, with 'Sandfords' embossed on one side. The tops are blue, with white writing.

I have pics, if anyone would like to see.

I'm listing these on eBay as we speak. I have no use for them. I 'sorta' know what they should go for, each.

Thanks in advance!

If no one has any information, does anyone know somewhere that will provide me, or I can find more information? I need to get these listed ASAP.

Thanks! smile.gif

I have looked at this site before posting, and reviewed a lot of posts. I figured this was the best place to come to ask this question, since all members are forthcoming with other information.

Obviously not.

Thanks anyway.

Rollingforthetide, I don't know about the other members, but I have never heard of this ink or seen it mentioned in any post. I really don't think that the wonderful people on this forum are holding back information from you, I think if they had any they would tell you. I looked up the ink on Google and found pricings of $15 and $30 per bottle on various retail sites. I saw a bottle of Washable Blue on an auction site which was listed for $15 but received no bids. I'm sorry that you didn't recieve any replies, but I think that it is unfair that you are accusing the great people on this site of deliberately withholding information from you.

You need to give folks a day or so to answer. We're international, so folks who may know something may still be asleep in their beds.

I occasionally buy Penit inks on ebay- not for use, though, to collect one of each color. FWIW, I would not consider paying more than around $5 per bottle, even in NOS condition. Sorry to say, these aren't that sought after.

I have several 3/4 ounce bottles of Penit that I have had for a while. Also 2 ounce bottles.
All have gone begging at $5.00 a bottle
Best way is to put them on the Market Place here, and see if any one salutes them.
eBay is always there, 99 cents a bottle or $5.99 a bottle, you'll find out in about 7 days what the going price is.

These were still being sold at a little corner store in eastern ND in the 60's. So, they
might be 40 or going on 50 years old. If you research the company, Sanford, you
might be able to find history of product lines that could tell you something.

If you are simply curious about retail prices of some really old inks, then
you might also check out a website called Pendemonium.com, which is the on-line store
for a brick and mortar pen store that sells vintage as well as contemporary inks as
well. They occasionally list these, but it's likely to be the rarer colors.

Washable blue is a very common ink color, so it isn't likely to bring as high a price
as say, Dubonnet, or Violet, or Green. Some people might like these little bottles
as a way to carry around small amounts of ink.
