Full Version: Introduction from a newbie

Hey guys, I'm so glad I found this forum. I've been addicted to fountain pens ever since my dad gave me a parker frontier. I just wish to introduce myself so that I can become part of this avid group of kind people. And when I say kind, I really do mean it. I've been on numerous forums, yet people here seem to be nicer and more helpful than those on other forums.
Although I'm merely a high school student I'm falling in love with pens way above and beyond my budget. At the moment I only own a parker frontier, but I ordered a Waterman Phileas not to long ago. I hope to increase the number of pens in my collection. I am a newbie afterall, so I hope you guys can help me with questions here and there, although I'll try keeping them miminal (I can just use the search tool for some). Glad to be a part of this forum.

Hello and welcome, Brian!

Please, by no means purposely limit your questions. If you have a Q, let it be free, and we'll be glad to help. You won't annoy anyone. lticaptd.gif

You're going to love that Waterman Phileas, it's an excellent pen. I have one myself, currently filled with a Waterman's Red cartridge. Excellent writer for the price.

Thanks. I have heard great things about the Phileas. Can't wait until I recieve mine. I also bought a bottle of waterman's florida blue. I also heard great things about that ink as well.

Thanks Livesaver, what would you way is the best thing about a phileas?
Ghost Plane
They write like much more expensive pens. Excellent pen for the money.

I plan to really use this pen as a primary pen carrying it around with me wherever I go. I just have a cautious feeling that the phileas might not be able to withstand the abuse from a backpack because afterall, it is made out of plastic. So for those to own a phileas, is it strong enough to endure such abuse? What about carrying it inside my pocket? Thanks.

Welcome to FPN Brian! The Philias is a good all around pen that looks like a much more expensive pen. I carried one in my pocket for quite a while and it rode around in my briefcase with no ill effects. Though it is plastic it dosn't seem to be a fragile pen. In fact in all the talk about one I've never heard someone say they broke one. (Something you certainly can't say about a black Mont Blanc pen!)
