Full Version: Is FPN/Noodlers Galileo Manuscript Brown safe for celluloid?

Just received four bottles of the bulletproof Galileo Manuscript Brown ink produced for FPN by Noodlers!

Bearing in mind this ink bonds with the cellulose in the paper, would it have any effect on my celluloid pens, especially my Omas Galileo Galilei?

I have never used Noodler's on celluloid pens for that particular reason. I am not willing to experiment. I love Galileo brown but use it with acrylic bodied pens.

Hmmm, I thought that might be the case.

Guess I will have to stick to using it with my P51's.

I use FPN GMB with my Stipula Iris, since I got the ink. The material used for the barrel is hazelnut celluloid, which is the same stuff as used for the Etruria 991.

I did stain one of my 991s once, with Swisher's Red, but could remove that with InkNix, fortunately. It was one of the light pieces that was stained red.

Considering the latter happened at the second fill already, and considering the fact that I use FPN GMB in my Iris for over a year now, I'd say FPN GMB doesn't stain celluloid.

Do note that cellulose and celluloid are two entirely different things, and that these Noodler's permanent inks do NOT react with celluloid, and that the staining with Swisher red occurred because of the red dyes, and that is not even a permanent ink.

HTH, warm regards, Wim

Thanks Wimg. I will keep my InkNix at the ready, just in case.

I have used my FPN Galileo in my Arco with no problems at all.

For red and violet inks, yes, for FPN GMB you don't need it biggrin.gif.

Well that's good news indeed! Thanks for the info, Wim. Seems my Omas Galileo will be having some fun after all.

I've just christened my first bottle of GMB in my Parker 51 Double-Jewel Cordovan Brown (seemed appropriate), and I'm very impressed so far clap1.gif
