Is there anybody else having problems with Herbin and other inks with stub and italic nibs?
My stub and italic nibs are skipping big time, if I use ink with less lubrication on smooth paper. Worse problems I have with Omas and Herbin inks. Diamine ink is somehow better, PR is good and Noodler is great.
The very same Diamine, Herbin and Omas inks are perfect in round nibs.
At first I thought it is Oxford paper. But than I have tried Clairfontaine, and it is same story.

how broad are these stubs and italics. broader nibs do require better flow because the ink has to spread over a larger surface area with generally the same feed properties given to standard nibs.
my experience with most J. Herbin inks is that they simply don't have the flow that most other inks have. I put them in the same category with MB inks in that regard. For the most part.

Omas stub nib is really broad. Around 1,3-1,5 mm. The same pen before had medium nib, and excessive flow and I have asked Omas to little reduce flow and exchange m nib for stub. I guess I shouldn't do both. Duofold is fine italics and has nice flow.
I still think it is lubrication. Today I have tried Omas Sepia and Lie De Thea. Both inks have good flow, but they lack lubrication. Both pens had nice wet line, but sometimes pens just didn't start to write. However, pens have written well on plain, rough paper.
I don't think that Ottoman Azure, Nightshade have better flow. But they are exellent at lubricating.
