Full Version: Parker Duofold

I found this Parker Duofold in a junk shop a few years back and paid 30p for it.
It was damaged. The base of the cap was missing a small piece so I cut off the
excess and carefully levelled it down with sand paper.

It writes perfectly and only an expert would notice the modification.

Have I ruined the pen's value?

Not if it has value to you.

Respect!

Excellent answer!

I do not intend to sell it so the query was really academic.

Today you have shown me respect.

Molto grazie!

A lot of pens have been modified over the years.
I have a Sheaffer Balance that someone did the same thing to.

To you the pen is worth more than as you found it.

To a collector, the modified cap is worth less than an original undamaged cap, but (if they know what was done to it) would value it more than a chipped cap.

Even in perfect condition these pes arent too expensive.I think the English Duofold doesnt get the respect it deserve. They are very reliable and excellent writers.
Dont worry about the value and simply enjoy the pen.

It's a very handsome pen. One day I am adding an English Duofold to my collection.

Have you looked at the earlier generation English Parkers.
I don't want to create too much competition to my collection, but these are a lot nicer....
