Has anyone laid eyes on Visconti's new Nautilus desk set? It was pictured on Page 18 in the new March '08 PenWorld Magazine, but I cannot find it listed on Fountain Pen Hospital or even on Visconti's web site.

The set is pictured on page four of this pdf file: http://www.penworld.com/pdf/pw2103p10.pdf

The three bays of the desk organizer look to close with louvered roll-tops, though I cannot be certain from the photo. The briarwood (which I assume is real wood, and not a celluloid recreation) seems to match the briarwood of Visconti's Divina Proporzione pen.

Me like.

No I haven't seen it but thank you for bringing it to my attention. It is gorgeous.

You are killing me!! Now I want the Divina Proporzione pen and this desk set! WOW.

It's lovely, but I'll stick with my white ceramic pelikan holding my Pelikan M800 in his beak!

Looks very nice and very expensive smile.gif but I'm more than sure my parents will disown me if I bring this to them as my next purchase biggrin.gif
Ghost Plane
Nice looking. This is the first I've seen.

For the benefit of others...

I almost didn't see that picture when I scrolled through it. There it is. I like it smile.gif It looks like there's a neat place for everything. And am I right in assuming that there are little wooden shutters that slide over the top to close it up?

What a nice desk set, I would love something like that.

BTW does anyone else think that Krone pen a few pages down is freaking hideous??

Cheers,
Sean

Adding to their Abraham Lincoln LE (with his "genetic essence"), I understand that one is called The Joker LE which must contain some of the Batman character's DNA.

Ehh, it's a commmon tie pattern.

I don't think it's hideous. I want one (the blue and light grey one).

Then again, I like bright colors, and I like the kind of pen that if someone nabs it, I know instantly where it is.

I call that a safe pen. Pens of this, this....pattern/color scheme,,,,shall we say, don't get nicked often from my desk. roflmho.gif And if they do I have it back in minutes.

Back to the desk set, very nice. I wish the writing desk I have looked a litle more "antiqued", I find a way to get it. And at the same time get my Omas Arco celluloid.

Hey GC -

Not to get all Archetectural Digest guy on y'all, but I think a couple of antiques or classically designed pieces look great in a contemporary interior design.

I have a home office that is about as contemporary as you can get without going off into weird-world: blonde oak curved pedestal desk with radiused edges by Davis, backed by two matching data pod credenzas - Motion chair upholstered in light grey ostrich skin, glass art, iPhone charger/speaker, and a contemporary painting. But balancing that modern clean look are a nineteenth century inlaid knife box converted to a stationery valet, and a contemporary stationery box by Venlo - both of ancient burled walnut. Off to the side is an English Hillwood humidor, also of classic design to counter the contemporary theme. I think that briarwood Visconti desk set would look great on the facing credenza.

So sometimes, antiques and classically designed pieces can look great in a modern design. They draw the eye away from the more bland and homogeneous contemporary canvas.

Ok, so I did get a little Archetectural Digest on you (bows humbly).

Ray, I COMPLETELY agree with you. It's a nice contrast between old and new. If it's done right, it can look wonderful.

...wish my parents knew that. They have no ability with this stuff...

Ray, VERY nice taste smile.gif I'm going to run my future office ideas by you biggrin.gif. The Delta desk set also looks great!

Another amazing product by Visconti that I could never afford crybaby.gif I love modern furnishings as well as antiques and this one seems to be the perfect combination. Ray, your office is another great example of classic/modern and much like how I want my office to look someday...when I actually have a house!

I'm such a sucker for burled walnut...

Yes, our local pen store has the whole line (I think). They also had:

2 different sizes of roll top pen cases
2 different sizes of stationery cases
wall mounted pen display
there might have been a smaller version of the one shown in the magazine, but they had that one, too

All in the same lovely wood. Very drool-worthy.

Hmm, maybe I'll make something like that.
