Hello everyone...

I was just wondering if anyone was aware of a retailer that sells Parker 51 nibs for late 40's aerometrics. I was cleaning my P51 and the nib jumped down the drain of the sink blush.gif .

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try contacting Greg Minuskin at www.gregminuskin.com if you want a customized nib. (No affiliation but very happy with my recent nibs from Greg.)

You can also watch for 51s with damage on E-bay and salvage a good nib there.

For a stock nib try parker51.com.

Thats has always been my worst fear. Sorry to hear it happened to you crybaby.gif. I think that vintagepens.com carries P51 nibs as well.
EDIT: I checked and it looks like Parker51.com carries gold nibs in fine for $20 and medium for $25, as well as octanium (stainless steel) in medium or fine for $10. Vintagepens.com looks to only carry octanium nibs in extra-fine or fine for $10.

Hello,

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. The short answer is that nibs are available. One source is the link http://www.parker51.com/gpage.html This leads to the parts page of the site but check out the entire web site because it is a wealth of information. Of course the other option is to remove the trap and fish the nib out. I have been forced to do that for a 51 nib, a clutch ring, and just last night, a feed tube. You'd think I'd learn to plug the sink but ... wallbash.gif Good luck!

Has the nib somehow escaped the S-trap/P-trap of the sink drainpipe too? Usually objects dropped into the sink stay in the S-trap/P-trap, and you only have to unscrew that to find them.

Get your wrenches out, and check the s-trap! But do it soon. The more water you run through the drain, the more chance the nib will be flushed out of the trap.

Per above - I bet it's in the trap!

It's gross to say, but there is probably some junk and gunk in there and the nib is probably stuck up in there.

Put some rubber gloves on, get your large slip-joint pliers, put a basin under the trap and go for it. A liitle penetrating oil ahead of time will help. I know for a fact that a clutch stays in the trap :-) I'll bet the nib is there and who know what else you might find? OK, on second thought don't tell us...
Good luck
