Hello!

I just bought my first (mb) fountain pen today, a Poe Mb Fp....(it came with a certificate, but no manual).

The pen was unused according to the seller, ink never touched it.

I have a question about it, which sure sound silly...how can I insert the mb ink cartridge in the pen?

Only the top part of the pen is movable, but only for a few "circles", not fully, it slowly stucks than....and no other part is movable.

Is it possible, that I need to force this upper part, because this is a new pen, and this is some "internal lock, which needs to be broken before first use"?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Congrats on getting this fantastic pen! The Poe LE is a piston filler, so the knob at the end of the pen that you are turning controls the piston in the barrel. Turn it anti-clockwise until you feel resistance--then stop, if you force it, you will break a piece of the piston mechanism. What this action does is push the piston seal down the barrel toward the section. Then you should submerge the nib into a jar of ink, up to the section, then turn the turning knob clockwise until it is seated again on the barrel. This will cause the piston seal to return to it's original position and 'suck' ink into the barrel. I always turn my knob anti-clockwise again to let out three or four drops of ink. The wipe the ink off of the nib and section with a lint free cloth and you're in business.

Good luck!

Thank you very much for the advices, I followed it very carefully, and the pen is writing beautifully! Can you please give me another advice about this type of pen? I want to surprise my son with a same Poe fp for his birthday, as he is a pen-fan too, and he liked this one very much when I showed it to him. I was offered a slightly used pen from the same seller, for 250 eur, but it has a broken piston. Does it sound a good deal? How much would a repair probably cost? For first hear this sounded me a good deal... Thank you!

Any fountain repairs usually cost around $50 USD as long as they repair doesnt involve the nib, so it would be worth buying. But I would check with Montblanc before buying it, just to be sure. Good Luck.

fixxerhun--

Since the broken MB Poe is a limited edition pen, I'm thinking it would have to go back to Hamburg to be repaired. I know they only have limited stocks of LE repair parts on hand, but as I looked at my POE this afternoon, I see the piston looks similar to a 146, but I have not taken it apart to be sure lticaptd.gif . So maybe the piston mechanism is common enough it would not be a big problem to repair. I think Euro 250 is probably a decent deal.
