As I have mentioned in the recent past, the Pear Tree Pen company is working on a major overhaul of its website and shopping cart. With that project comes a completely new web host and server. Our primary domain, www.PearTreePens.com will continue to function, but the subdomain to which many of you link (shop.peartreepens.com) will cease operation within the next few weeks. Therefore, to avoid "dead links," you may wish to update your bookmarks to reflect the proper site name. www.PearTreePens.com will continue to point to the subdomain until the switch is finally made, so there should be no interruption in your ability to access the site for all of your shopping needs!

When I cut and paste the URL, it gets redirected to shop.peartreepens.com/main.sc. If I try to remove the shop. part, I get a message Page Not Found. Might be a good idea to repost this notice once the site is finalized at the revised address.

Yes, that's correct. The reason you're getting re-directed is because the domain "peartreepens.com" currently points to the "shop.peartreepens.com/main.sc" subdomain. If your bookmark is set at www.PearTreePens.com, the switch will be seamless and all you'll notice is a new website. After the switch, if a bookmark is set at "shop.peartreepens.com," you'll get a 404 page not found error.

Does that make sense? Sometimes I wonder when I talk all computer-geeky.

OK, it wasn't a few weeks, it was more like a few months. Nonetheless, we finally made the switch to the new server and website. It may take some time for the DNS switch to propagate all over the web. For instance, right now, I can't access the site using www.PearTreePens.com, but I know some folks can. In some cases, the delay may be up to 72 hours, I'm told.

As an FYI - the new site can be found at www.PearTreePens.com. Any images or links using the old "shop.peartreepens.com/ . . . " subdomain are inaccessible.
