Hey all,

Thought I'd take a minute to finally step up and say hello to everyone. I'm a newby to the whole world of fountain pen collecting, and I look forward to learning, and hopefully occasionally contributing to the conversation around here.

That said, do any of the other Floridians (permanent or occasional) here know of any decent pen shops in the Palm Beach/Broward/Miami-Dade area?

Hi Nathan,

I'm in Broward County, I haven't found anything here, yet.....

I live in the Miami area too and no luck, except for a few Mont Blanc boutiques there seems to be nothing. There is however a huge pen show in July in Miami, so save your money. We should talk some more and maybe eventually see if we can gather some other fountain pen enthusiasts here in the South Florida area and meet occationally to discuss our new purchases, the latest models in the market, life....etc. It would be a lot of fun considering there is nowhere else for us to go!

Welcome to FPN. Sorry but I'm too far away to offer and useful suggestions about local pen shops for you.

Welcome to FPN. I used to live in Florida but nowhere near Miami.

Hey there Bruce,

take care~

Haha, yeah we should get something going. Have you seen any announcements for the pen show in July yet or do they have a web site? It's still hard to believe that there's nowhere up or down the coast... I've lived in Florida for almost three years now, and it's still frustrating that various things I took for granted in the past are just absent here... guess that's the trade off for the good weather! ;-)

I heard about the pen show from Issacson, a well known dealer in this forum. However, i have not been able to find any information on it anywhere else.

If you do want to check out great pens, really safe and reliable online sites where you may get pens are Oscar Braun Pens(google the name and it will come up) also www.vacumania.com and richardspens.com

They are extremely reliable sellers, items as described and for extremely great prices!!!

Whenever I find out anything else about the show I will PM you and let you know!

Welcome from the northern end of the state. We don't have any stores up here either. Forget Levengers. Their selection has fallen off to just steel nibbed in house models. I order off the internet like everyone else. sad.gif

Thanks Ghost Plane, I was kind of fearing that there weren't any... usually I order just about anything online, but this is one of those cases where it doesn't seem to pay off, the other day I was trying to set up an order for a Waterman Phileas pen, a nib, a converter and some ink and the shipping and handling almost doubled the cost!!!!
Ghost Plane
It's one of the things to consider when buying online. Phileas is a good starter pen and you'll find many pensellers with varying shipping and prices, so take your time and hunt around.
Dr Ozzie
Thats why you should tick to some of the ones i mentioned above, there are a few others, all who sell pens and are members of the forum. They will usually allow you to return the pen if you are not satisfied with it

In my experience I have had nothing but excellent customer service from them, even going out of their way to answer any questions or concerns.

PS: The Miami Pen Show will be at the Baltimore Hotel in Miami, in mid July, probably the second week in July. I will keep you updated if i find anything else.

Haven't been there, so I'm not much help.

Sorry it took so long. Lost the Power Supply in my PC.

Hi there,
Another South Floridian here. I agree with Ghost Plane. Levengers used to be a great place to shop...until they stopped selling other brands to feature only their own. There's a Crane's Stationery in the Boca Town Center Mall that has a not-bad selection of pens. Not great prices, but fun to look.

The Miami Pen Show in July is a great way to see a lot of pens, ink and accessories all at once. It's not as big as some of the huge shows like LA or Washington, but I'll take what I can get!

I'm fortunate that I get to travel to NYC on business and can go to the great brick-and-mortar stores there. This allows me to get a sense of pens in person, even if my pen budget at the time does not allow me to buy. Then, when funds are ready, I order over the internet. I suggest making a point to search out stores whenever you travel, since pens here in south Florida are few and far between.

Ach, you'd think there'd be something around, considering all of the snowbirds from New York, Chicago and Canada that make up the population for half the year here... oh well, I'll have to make the trip down to the Boca mall and see what they've got.

Another tip: I went to an antique store in my hometown, Lake Worth, called Carrousel's. They have SOME pens there, though they're mostly in bad shape and completely overpriced, imho. There were some Schaeffer's, a Waterman or two, and a couple of Parker's. There was one that was called a "Watermans", has anyone else ever seen the Waterman name on a pen with an "S" on the end? Is this a knockoff?
