Full Version: Getting a Parker 100: Fine or Medium Nib?

I'll be getting a Parker 100 soon but can't decide on a Fine or Medium due to experience with current Parker nibs:

I have many Parkers bought for £10 to £40. Most have medium nibs that all seem very similar.
One (a frontier) has a fine nib which I really prefer to all the mediums.

However, my most expensive pen is a Sonnet Laque Verdigris with a medium nib which seems as fine as my only fine nib. maybe price makes a difference...

I would like my 100 nib to be like the medium Verdigris Sonnet or the Fine Frontier.

So the question is:
Do you think I'd be safer to assume the Verdigris I own is unusual and go for a fine nib on the 100?
OR
Are more expensive mediums actually finer than the cheaper ones?? hmm1.gif

I have a 100 with a fine and it runs a bit wide.

I have two 100s, both with fine nibs. One writes like a fine medium and the other like a true medium.

I lke a fine NIB for most things and I got an XF on my 100. It wrote similar to a 51 F if that is any help.

Thanks for your comments.

Out of the four 100s mentioned here they are all slightly wider, meaning I should order a fine biggrin.gif

Has anyone got a 100 that runs narrower than expected?

I think characteristically they do run a little wide. My medium is really rather broad compared to other pens.
